"10 daily success tips"

newspaper clipping
Seems some nosy bugger called Aaron Potts wants to know every one's success tips?! ;o)

That is a success tip right there in learning from others.

But I debated on this post after seeing Lynn Terry tagged me with it... even after what Lynn said about why she tagged me?

"Because your personal story truly inspires me…" :o)

Thanks Lynn!

Why did I debate it then?

What is classed as success?
Being a personal thing it will be different to everyone, so I asked...

"Am I a success?"

In my eyes I am in many ways, in others?

When I get a donation using the button below with a comment in the paypal email like...

"Item/Product Name: being a cool person with a cool blog - here's beer"

Thank you...what a cool reader... ;o)

Then I think....hmmm am I successful blogger too... ;o)

So do I have tips or not!

I think so, here are a few tips I use in life, in no particular order.

1. Trust your gut instinct, it's rarely wrong!

Having had to grow up relying more on my better senses and trusting my gut 100% I have learned it very rarely is wrong.

If it's saying something, shut up and listen to it! ;o)

There has been many a time it's saved me some serious hassle and problems, so I never underestimate it you shouldn't either, it wants and knows what's best for you at that precise moment.

2. Always strive to keep reading and learning.

Reading has been a massive part of my life and it even influenced my speech. Reading is never a bad habit, unless you read the wrong things!

Reading stimulates your brain nicely, everyone reads, but it's also what you read that matters.

3. NOTHING teaches like doing.

You can read all the instructions you like, until you actually DO you will limit your learning greatly.
Experience is the greatest teacher you have, experiences are what shape you.

As I already mentioned reading helped my speech, now the actual reading didn't do it...ME talking while reading did it!
The experience of doing made it the reality.

4. Be honest and faithful to yourself.

It's YOUR life, you have to live with it! So you owe it to yourself to be honest with yourself at all times.
This has to be one of the most important parts of life and what you do.

Can you in twenty years live happily with what you are doing now?
There must be millions of old people with a head of regrets!
Don't be one of them.

5. Trust yourself and have faith in what you can do.

You ARE better at things than you really think, that's fact!
We all underestimate ourselves and what we can do, yet the ONLY thing stopping you is YOU...I speak well because I KNEW I could do it and had faith in myself to do it.

Believe that you can do it, have faith and DO. You may surprise yourself, there was NEVER a baby who could walk at birth!

6. Mindful of the real why!

Everything you do, you do for a reason. It's that "why" you do it you should always be aware of.

The why is what should be driving you.

I want my sons to be proud of me, it's at the forefront of mind in all I do because it is the real why.

My sons are the most important part of my life therefore it stands to reason how I am in their eyes matters as much as what I can do for them...leading by example as it's not about having the most money, the best car, the biggest house, it's about "being".

7. Positive thinking!

Everyone says it yet it's so true and important and I will repeat it.

You should ALWAYS look for the positive aspect of every moment, I have had some pretty negative moments but there is always something positive there.
That positive will minimise the negative, everytime.

Light always eliminates the dark.

8. Silence really IS golden.

Believe me in those silent moments you have your mind will work wonders.
Stillness runs deep!
Silence has no distractions. Need I really say more on that? ;o)

9. Be yourself.

You are unique and you have uniqueness in your way of being.
Get to know yourself better everyday.

Know what really stand out in you and your personality.
This uniqueness IS your ticket to success.

There IS something different about you, you just need to know it, appreciate it, nurture it.

10. Read my blog daily! :o)

Well of course # 10 is pretty important!

They key to all of this is YOU!

So, that's 10 good tips from me, and now I have to tag others to share theirs!

So in no particular order I am tagging...

Alice Seba

Becuase she is on a roll at the moment...

Michel Fortin.

Bound to have some good tips...

Martin Avis.

Because I repsect his views on most things... (wonder if he will do this meme this time?)

Ladan Lashkari.

Because Ladan has succeeded against some serious odds!

John Carlton

The guy always gets me hooked into his writing!

Jason Lewis

Fellow Brit with some good tips, so lets hear the success ones! ;o)

Kevin Riley

Because I want an invite to such a beautiful place where he lives!

My biggest tip will in in the next post!
A whole post about it, be sure to "tune in" ;o)

Take care,

"Anchor linking"

Anchor text link...

Had an email from a reader asking what I meant in an earlier post when I wrote that.

Glad you asked if you don't understand, never daft questions are there? ;o)

So, as with any text link it's clickable yet with anchor links you are also using a keyword link, like if I wanted to share a post I made about my dog.

I would use keyword link to give that link more "weight" to the search engines view on that link and the content on the page.

As in this example I would write take a look at Kaya in her youth.

That is the title of the very post.

A common mistake people make is to have all their links saying "click here" for link love.
That is not a good anchor text link at all.

Better would have been to link "link love".

I am sure you can imagine why now. :o)

It's a bonus when it comes to SEO (search engine optimisation).

Hope that makes sense and if not, post in the comments and we will work it out. ;o)

"Cove Inn from above"

cove inn from above
The weather is really perking up now the spring has kicked in full flow...summer coming!

Here is the "cove inn" from the main rd at fortuneswell.
It is the the far building nesting between the rooftops!

Sounds odd... ;o)

Living behind that has it's positives. ;o)
Not to mention the sea being just a stones throw.

Without a scanner it's a bit awkward sharing the pic at it's best, soo here is a professional picture done when Kaya was about 2, just over, so about 13 years ago!!

A bright dog...very bright, she knew I am deaf.

A lovely picture... glad I had that taken. :o)

"Flipping heck!"

Nice day today... here is a picture of the car with the sun on it, just uploaded a small video to youtube but it's waiting to be available.

I will add that as soon as it's done!

UPDATED with video..

As seen below, only short one but my first video upload!

First of many... ;o)

Impressed with the simple uploading at youtube...anyone could use that.

Glad they are at least checked out before being available.

"Dog looking her age"

Got my new camera yesterday!
Woo wooo...
You will see changes here.

Here is my old faithful dog "Kaya", pronounced Kiya. :o)

Looking her age at 15.

She is sleeping more now and it's looking nearer to the end of the innings, good innings though I'm pleased to say.

I will miss her, couldn't have asked for a better dog. Love her to bits.

"Learning to play guitar"

Not me...yet.

But my youngest son has now got himself a guitar, kindly given to him.
He can now crack on with learning to play it which with the wonder of free videos on youtube, myspace etc should be fun for him to do.

I will also get a guitar sometime, sounds odd being deaf and playing one but the vibration is good as well me hearing it ok.
I thought if I learn he will always be a step in front of me which will keep him motivated too. ;o)

Once he has made some progress and shows he will keep on keeping on an electric one will be next on the wish list. ;o)

Music is a great thing so I am very happy to see him take notice and action.

"Cove inn"

This is the pub on the sea wall, I live right behind this and look forward to having a drink on the beach, watch the sun go down.

Would that make a nice video?

The sunset?

I can remember watching the waves pound this pub, going right over the top of it, roughly 50 feet high the waves were.

The last time this happened was the late 80's.

It used to happen roughly every ten years but since the late 80's...it's not happened.
I found this picture showing this as it happened, this is an old picture though.

Hopefully it won't again seeing as my home is behind it and on a lower level!

A wave is not what I want to see from the kitchen window!

Probably why blogging is so appealing... yet it's something I will do...no doubt about it, it's easier to do that now than it ever was.

"Unique...must see!"

For sale!

Brothers bmw m3

Cover car!
Look at it "sparkle" in the sun on the cover!
How many colours?

bmw m3

Looking mean and moody in these due to the shade of the day!

Pictures here by the company who sprayed it, Dawsons.

My Brother has sadly now got to sell this beauty.
Been very well maintained, garaged every day since he got it.
Used as more a "nice day to drive" car...and it is a beaut.
Fast, handles very well.
Very unqiue.
Heated leather interior, left hand drive, was the one in the showroom at the BMW factory!

This is Number 45 of 500 made!
How many do you think are left? An investment.

Alright bro, what ya doing?

Probably the best you'll see!
Click on the pics for full size.

Cover car of performanceBMW as well!

Any questions?

"A few degrees"

portland bill lighthouseLike the light beam of the lighthouse, a few degrees width here is a big difference out there.

Set off on the wrong angle and it could lead to the vast nowhere!

One good reason I did the last post! :o)

Interestingly though my readership has gone up since adding pics and writing longer and better posts!

Welcome new readers, thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll be a regular reader now. ;o)

Funny it brings back some great memories looking at this picture, the lighthouse itself.
I used to love laying in bed late on a foggy night (believe me fog gets bad here) and listen to the great long deep bellow of the foghorn, I can hear it in my head now.

Yep I could hear it easy back then, living in Weston street (you locals will know it) it was only just over a mile or two from here so it was loud at times.

You know it makes me think about what it was like here one time in the says of old, where locals used lights to lure boats in, only to shipwreck right on the rocks or beach after being tricked.

Then looted!

What a life that must have been here then!

The caves and tunnels and alsorts here make me wonder, gotta be buried treasure here somewhere!....Ok don't rush... ;o)

Pirates and mermaids!! Gets me daydreaming!

Not to mention the "strangers graveyard" we have here.
It IS an interesting place here, too many younger ones don't really appreciate it yet, if ever they will.

Wouldn't a video here of...

sunset at portland

...the sunset be nice?!

Any comments?

"You choose, join in"

I was just thinking... why do I hardly get comments here?
Then one pops up on the top post.... ;o)

Life's a funny old game I tell ya!

I digress... what was I gonna say?

Oh yeah.. the pic reminded me! :o)

I think I'm at a real crossroad in life...NO not an early midlife crisis, I'm not quite that age yet!

More of what direction I go in life and what I do, things are changing whether I think about it or not, I can truthfully pin some of this down to reading or more precisely acting on two books, and having a few chats with a few people, including myself...please don't send the ones in white! :o)

If you are a regular reader of this blog you will have seen all these small things build up to whatever changes there will be, and probably relate to it. I mean I do blog about things in my life, head, whatever so you know it's some reflection of me, real.

By the every nature of blogs it's conversational.

I do feel I know where I am heading but also how too, yet you know you're part of it.
As big a part of it as you want to be in truth, after all it's your choice really, I am just grateful you DO read it, although I like writing you reading keeps me writing it.

But I don't really know what you like me writing about.

You see, I hope to have that camera I need in my hand as soon as I see it really, up to a limit of course, may have a mad rush of buys here or something ( ;o) ) that pushes me faster.

So...summer coming up, lots of pics, videos (you'll laugh or faint) and interesting things going on but I could try to relate these pics or things to things you WILL be interested in...you know for example "how can I relate this experience to (blogging, marketing, whatever?)" topic or viewpoint.

Which way will you choose for me?

I comment on quite a few blogs, even been thanked for it a few times, playing my active part on the blogosphere, and did wonder, as you see at the top of the post ;o) , but realised I simply don't ask you too often enough.

Strange but the ones I comment on often never ask you to comment, so I thought it worked, did on me ;o)

BUT, I will ask you, please comment, help me make sure I DO keep going in the right direction with this.

Take care,

P.s wow the first P's here I think ;o) In case you wondered what books they were I spoke of earlier...It was the "Mindset" one as seen on the sidebar which pays YOU 100% commission, and John Reese's "brain dump" which you can see in previous post or archive.

"Taken for granted?"

Interesting time today and this is a first for me yet it was so nice.

Many of you are well aware I am deaf so unable to use a phone, this itself can be very frustrating at times, like the fact I can't ring my boys up and say "Hiya mate", today that all changed!

What..?? Do my ears work ok now?!

NO>. but as you know with a PC you can use messenger...many of you use it yet do you take the level of contact you have for granted?

I just got off msn where I was talking to my eldest, he is 14 now, I have never been able to have a conversation with my sons without them actually being here, or me there.

But wow.... what a beautiful thing, being able to message him and say...
"Hiya mate, good day at school? Is all ok, your brother ok?"

"Yeah dad, you ok? Can I stay at a mates on Saturday?".... "yeah course you can son".

I KNOW you all take it for granted, just as all do with many things.

This was a great heart warming moment for me, I also look forward to "talking" with my youngest too, who is 12.
I always said this was like a phone to me and that's ONE reason I use forums alot.
But my sons never had a PC at home so this is great.

I love it, just the fact I can say hi... to many of you it's nothing special.

To me...it's a life changing thing.

"Link love"

Lets talk about linking and why it's the basis of the "global conversation" which is the net, blogging is a big part of that global conversation.

Link love is the act of linking out to something you like, something you want to share. Smart linking can explode your traffic as well as give your readers something extra.

Tagging is what I call a form of link love, you will only tag to those you feel your readers will appreciate, people who you like and respect.

I recently tagged Michel Fortin with the "5 things tag" that went around the blogosphere, this did boost my traffic quite a bit.

See what I did there?
There is another benefit to linking, internal linking which is linking to an older post on your own blog. Why does this benefit me? Not only does it lead you the reader back to an older post it will also be picked up by the search engines.

It was also an anchor text link, I used the keywords instead of "click here" which is a very important part of gaining page rank due to relevance, no one searches for "click here", they will search for "5 things" tag which will show all the blogs who were a part of the "5 things" tag.

Anchor text links will always be an important part of your linking strategy and you should utilise it, whether it's a link to an older post or to another blog.

"Link bait" is not a term I really like but it is a part of linking. Some people do this in various different ways but do it for ONE reason, to get others linking to them, or at least talking about them.

People will check links to them and see the bait, it will work or it wont, depending on the reaction of the person baited.

For an example I could "bait" with something controversial like saying "Brian Clark LOVES link baiting"... :o)

How will he know I did that? By checking his stats he will see you go to HIS site via the link bait link as I just did and possibly come here, read this and SCOWL at me on his blog! Who knows what he will do, most likely NOTHING but laugh at me!

As I say it's just an example of how people do this, some do it very well.

Linking should be a big part of your blogging, after all it's a conversation, conversation's that are one way are pretty boring wouldn't you agree?

Linking is spreading the word about other people.

Linking is adding to your content, it can even be viral which is good marketing.

Gonna link to this post? ;o)

Take care,
