My first post on this new WordPress set up, having made the move from blogger, the main website url make money online ๐Ÿ˜› ย is now showing up in this format but all is not quite right yet.

I seem to be stumbling on the permalinks, important as it means links elsewhere with the old blogger urls are not redirecting to the corresponding posts on this set up, ย annoying and I knew it wouldn’t all be plain sailing, but overall I am glad to have bitten the bullet and made the move, WPress is better in many ways.

I may have to edit this post’s url sometime, I would rather the urls were just the post titles, so, once it’s all sorted, and I can see all redirects working, I can then delete the blogger blog set up completely… don’t want the blog duplicated now do I? ๐Ÿ˜€

I did look forward to testing out the new blogger set up, but having used it on a custom domain with Portland Bill anyway I have seen how much better it is, so no need with this one, I think for SEO purposes WPress will be better, it is starting to grow on me for sure, also it’s neat that we can adapt our urls and slugs to improve things, like the one above in the url address bar!

I can also add more the blogging community as a whole, using commentluv, which I will set up, this allows me to give a follow attribute to people who comment, after all I think comments from you are important, so why should I discourage them like blogger does? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Won’t allow spammers any room though!

Aside from the small niggles I am pleased, excited, got my blogging mojo goingย raging again. ๐Ÿ™‚

I may not be 100% there yet, a few things to sort but overall it’s looking good and I can see some good uses to utilise, the plug in library is massive too.

I was told this works on mobiles too, something I never heard anyone say about the old set up, even though I know many friends use them.

I will gradually improve and add to this, maybe the social buttons etc need improving, I have other things I will add anyway, another thing is the rss needs sorting too, so this is not the end product any anyย stretch.

I would be interested in hearing what you think, have I made the right move then WPress fans?

Are there any tips and such you know of that I should use?

I have no idea why the avatars (gravatars) won’t show up with the comments, seeing as they are set to show.

Anyone have any ideas on that?

Or is there a plug in that’s recommended for it?

Hoping the threaded comments work too. ๐Ÿ˜€

Rob – like the new look and interesting to hear about your migration experiences. I picked up this post in Google Reader fine as I was subbed via FeedBurner.

Enjoy the new, shiny blog. WordPress is great although you’ll have to resist the temptation to experiment with all the great plugins and themes available ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Andy, neat, I can reply to comments directly from the dashboard! ๐Ÿ™‚

Liking it even more, thanks for that mate, thanks for the advice on the move too.

Yeah, there seems to be so many of these plug ins… tempting, but will refrain. ๐Ÿ™‚

Woot, now the avatars are showing for me too ๐Ÿ˜‰

Not sure what I did, or didn’t do, they just popped up, maybe the cache just needed refreshing, not that I did.

Thanks Andy for that help and advice.

      Certainly am Lissie,

It’s neat, I am getting there, but still having issues with redirects, stubborn old me will get there! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks, glad to have made the switch now. ๐Ÿ˜‰
