I always find it better just to listen to someone else's woes, never offer advice, what works for one does not necessarily work for another.

Sometimes it can be good to 'bend someone's ear' because it gets it out of your system and the listener is there simply to listen, someone on the outside looking in. I merely try to talk to friends and family who are stressed out, hopefully prompting the odd smile here and there.

Every one of us needs a 'whipping post' and I have been simply that for many a friend in need.
