"You tell me, I'll listen"

a pump on Portland

It's been a real summer of reflection and change in some ways and they say people fear change, well I would like to embrace it for what it is, not least because the last 7 or 8 weeks has taught me a huge amount. ;o)

Learning things in ways I wouldn't have expected and yet learning things where I wouldn't have even looked....right under my nose! ;o)

The blogging side of it is no different on that score and what I have gained over that time I couldn't put a price on it in many ways but putting what I have learnt into practice is the key.

That's the aim and it is giving me two feelings, one of slight anticipation and one slight excitement and fear mixed.

One the one hand it's all "go for it" and yet on the other it's "what if goes wrong?"

So who better to ask than you, the reader. :o)

You see there seems quite a divide among bloggers and no-one will please everyone but at least pleasing your own readers is the main thing. :o)

What's this divide?

Monetisation and those who bleat about the so called "cause", which I guess is that blogs are "diary's, personal, not meant for making money with"...the brigade who in my eyes have no place telling others what they should and shouldn't do on their blogs.

If blogs weren't made for monetisation why did Google start AdSense?

But I digress, the fact is there is a divide and to me it's as daft as ya like. ;o)

Blogs are simply dynamic websites, no more no less. ;o)
The easy way to build an online presence...for anyone, and fast.

But it also got me thinking... ;o)

I got thinking about this blog and what I want from doing it as well as what other plans I would like to carry out elsewhere...which way am I going, and where to?

I got thinking about what I can do, now and further down the line.

Well I got some answers from asking...me, but I don't read this blog, I write it so the reader is as important as me in what can be done to improve things, after all that's the whole point and you benefit the most. ;o)

I did get some great tips from a readers view from a discussion board and it made me think too.

I will tell you why too...and I do think it matters.

We all market, we all not all marketers yet we are.

An oxymoron I know but what I mean is it's a mentality, a marketers mentality and it's more so with IM, (Internet marketing).
So while we all blog we need readers and in some way the blogs are marketed to them, even indirectly, if you blog...you market in some way yet you may not actively market.

You don't have a "marketing head on" all the time.

It's a real thing and it can also be an addictive thing but also being exciting, frustrating uplifting all rolled into one it can be a nightmare to stop, to turn that "marketing head" off.

IM is a myth, a mentality, yet a reality! ;o)

But here's the rub, without learning what I have through IM I wouldn't be where I am now. ;o)

But I digress, where was I?

Oh yeah...having stepped out of the IM circle a bit in the last month or so I have had my eyes really opened by stepping more into the blogosphere and the "social network" side of the net...which I always known of just not realised the scope and benefit of it.

The future is there, and we are a part of it already.

But I also now realise who diverse the wider picture is and feel more in line with where I am going and how, just need to act and act the best I can on what matters while also growing in the right direction.

This blog is a big part of that direction.

Lets be straight here and lets say...for instance, as it could be anyone of us bloggers and most of us will have asked themselves at some point, so for example...

It cost £30, or $30 to be online a month, so we can say...

The reality is £1, or $1 a day from this blog keeps this blog going easily, so that's free Internet...not much is it?

But...

Where does that come from?

If I don't get that how can I do that?

And every month?

(Sheesh my IM "marketing head" is partly back on... See... ;o) )

The basics people say are you usually get a 1% response rate, meaning 1 out of 100 will actually give, buy, act in what way gets you the £1 or $1 but...

Only if they have a way for you actually getting that £1 or $1.

  • If you rely on Adsense or similar you need alot more than 100 visits to get the £1 or $1 a day.

  • If you have good traffic to your blog you could do it with Adsense easy, if it's the action you want and lead them to take.

  • If you have something to sell that your readers can buy you may well do it easy.

  • If you sell adspace privately you may well do it easy.

  • If you have a good readership and a good niche and you are an affiliate you may well do it easy.

  • If you have a good following of fans whether due to controversy or other you may well get the traffic funnelled someway to earn indirectly.

  • If you give great content freely and people donate to you.

It's the last one that's so pleasing to me and THAT is the one I like most. :o)

When I get a beer it does make me feel great and knowing someone gave freely is the icing on the cake. ;o) Maybe it's the supposedly "subliminal messages" here which I can't find! ;o)

But if you did all of above you make your chances better and worse, depending on how you do them...mix and match is what most people do.

So while I was asking myself these questions I realised making money from this blog was never really an intention but it has become a need for now because of that stepping out of the IM circle gave me a slight dip which I has risen above now...just hoping not too late. ;o)

I view the world online a little different to some being deaf it makes the world more communicative. ;o)
More accessible and for that I want to stay online for good.

Re-thinking plans and taking the lessons learnt I have to embrace changes and I will. ;o)

So where do you come in?

Well I got thinking about how this blog looks, what you get from it and how best to ensure of a £1 or $1 a day thrown in the mix.

Just for the simple reason of making the Internet pay for itself via at least one thing I do and if it's this blog than all the better...

Because I give all in this blog the best I can and want to improve, grow and write under no pressure of the content I put here, meaning it doesn't have to do more than I need it to do money wise, I enjoy writing on here and want to enjoy it more. ;o)

So in all honesty I only need to do ONE thing...for at least £1 or $1 a day I give content that's worth it ;o)

That's why a beer is better than a sell. ;o)

It means what I wrote was worth it to someone who is under no obligations.

I prefer to write longer and better posts if I can give something to someone in some way. :o)

So two or three ideas spring to mind...

  • Keep blogging as I do, leaving the blog as is?
  • Improve the overall blog layout keeping it clean and simple yet not too different?
  • Streamline and clean up alot by reducing the adspace and similar?
  • Have only MY income makers and not other peoples, of which is very little anyway?
  • Remove all but the beer, keep on giving good content but relying on at least ONE of you a day buying a beer?
  • Remove all but the beer and the only time I really share other peoples stuff is in a relevant post?
  • A possible addition could be a forum, maybe as a place to also discuss this blogs post, ideas, share tips and more...free or even indirectly helping by a one off charge of a £1 beer? ;o) (It stops spammers! ;o) )
  • Other ideas, or another mix?
What would make you happier to read this blog again, what would you like to see?

Would any of you feel if all but the beer was removed that you would ever buy the beer?

Or would you get me drunk? ;o) ( Not that it goes on beer of course! )

Any thoughts, comments? Please comment.

Wanna share this post?, Please do.

Or even buy me a beer? ;o)

"Portland a 2012 bomb?"

Portland Bill a beautiful Island where I happen to live. ;o)

I'd like it to stay this way long after 2012...not lost forever!

Here we host part the 2012 Olympic games, the sailing events will be in Portland harbour, NOT Weymouth harbour which it seems as they keep getting the credit and publicity!

While this is a great thing for Portland I and I am not alone fear it could be a bad thing...why?

Well the good things first and one is that money will be used to enhance Portland's entrance, which is surely NEEDED and we don't get back what we put in on Portland, Weymouth benefits most of the time.

Businesses will benefit in many ways from the games being here, not least a wider awareness of the place so more exposure for their work.

Locals will benefit in many ways. :o)

We will be shown worldwide on the TV and you can bet there will be amazing aerial shots of this place...you won't want to miss them!

All round this will help Portland a huge deal in many ways.

The port though is an odd one for me...why?

It all seems strange here in some ways, when the navy was here the whole base was secure and private, we knew little of what went on there and now its an open working port yet it feels odd to be there at times, like a newish place somewhere I have lived most of my life. Strange, or is it me. ;o)

But why the worry?

Well it seems that we are having a bomb fitted on the Island!!

NOT a nice one at that.

Whoa...what?

Yep, to me that is what is going on and it don't look pretty!

The Portland base has old tankers, most have been removed, you know those big gas container type things. Except these were for aviation fuel and such things which the navy used, a few will always remain as we still have the most famously known helicopter here working and that's the sea rescue service as seen on the BBC!

Now though there are plans to actually put GAS in two tankers which are right on the port side where the Olympics are shown!

A gas BOMB!!

But there is more... its gets worse!

While most of us are used to the tankers here, the few that remain that is, we feel having gas in them within distance of the port is not a good idea.

As I said...it gets worse!

Nuclear subs in the port too?

All on live TV watched round the world!!!

You tell me, should it concern us?

Will the local council listen to peoples fears?

Will it be ignored until it's to late?

Will it be safe?

Can it all be delayed until after the games?

Who can you trust though?
I mean with all this terrorism and fear going on, with conspiracy theorist out there saying the governments are all involved in ways we don't realise.
The media feeding the frenzy in some ways.

Who can people trust?

The people only trust themselves and those they know.

Am I doing the wrong thing here...putting the idea in the wrong hands?

Am I doing the right thing by making people aware of it so empowering us to say...hang on!

All I know is I love the place and it's a huge part of my life seeing I live here and I AM concerned about the place.

It was here long before us and should be here long after we leave.

Is Portland a ticking bomb for the world to witness?

What can we do from here to ensure it IS a safe Olympics for everyone?

Any comments?

"Almost there"

Funny thing life...

Funny thing online life!

Anyway I digress.

A few things have happened and things look slightly up, not quite there, but the right direction, still here, with opportunities, time and effort to utilise.

One step at a time eh? ;o)

Thanks to those who have helped, wittingly or unwittingly. ;o)

So...arse in gear throttle down...away we go.. ;o)

Some good things I notice with traffic stats lately is people are keen and active out there in the wide blogosphere and social network side of the Internet, keen to read your blog and giving you the chance to see their blogs...interesting what you find out there, amazing pictures too. :o)

Funny things where you just know the feeling... ;o)

Ever the watchful (enhanced?) eye I notice something I have had to give thought, the focus of some blogs I see tend to have a theme and a narrowness, and on others they are a mish mash of thoughts, pictures, tips, others purely aim to make money, or give 100% freely, whatever.

Yet all have different expectations as you know, but do you take notice of the anticipation?

All different again? ;o)

Every time you go to certain blogs you have visited often you get a certain expectation and that influences the anticipation...in a big way.

What do you anticipate on a visit to each blog you do?

In most case is "more of the same", no? ;o)

So something not quite expected this time is to peak in some way your anticipation on the next visit?

Concentrate on your readers anticipation and watch their expectations change, hopefully for the better, every so often ;o)

If you have yet to grab the free book as seen on the sidebar here, it touches upon a key example in it's "pillars" which do this. (Every blogger should have that book!)

Problogger Darren does it with his "series" too.

But there are alsorts of ways this is done, and maybe it truly is each blog is as unique as the writer AND reader. Each visit for each person generates a unique reaction, spark, idea, view, inspiration, spark of anger...whatever...all unique.

We all take things uniquely every visit, every word.

So we can never be perfect in any way, why try? ;o)

Just do whatever you are but anticipate your readers anticipations every so often until it's an every time habit.

The truth to me is the focus of a blog is what the readers make it to themselves. ;o)

The writers focus should be purely intent, in whatever form, be it to share, teach, sell, give, spread, annoy, worship, gain as a fan, or a mix in any way.

The writers intent may be different for each post obviously, yet the anticipation and expectation can be the real deciding factor in the level of reaction gained from each post, the aim of the intent.

Do I think about your anticipation then? Of course.. ;o)

I anticipate that some of you are not even here, but saying "wow, great pics", or "yeah, I KNOW I've been close to doing that", some of them may be back.. ;o)

Some of you "older" readers will be here, and thinking, "jeeeesus Rob, your marketing cap has slipped, you lost readers already, some won't be back and not a money button in sight!" ;o)

Some of you "older" readers may be saying "The caps on tight enough for now" ;o)

Some will be saying "Get to the bloody point Rob".. ;o)

Some of you new readers will be saying... "Hang on, start thinking about MY readers expectations and anticipations...then how I influence it hhhhmmm.. that's new" :o)

Some will be saying..."what the heck?" "Is the man nuts?" :/

Some will say..."nothing new here, nothing to see people!, move on" ;o)

It's all good. ;o) I learn something too! That's part of my intent.
Understanding yourself is the first step to understanding others. ;o)

Any thoughts?

"Wow, what a let down"

So just three post ago I explained my situation and then the next post asked if you could help me help myself

I had ONE response, which I was greatful for them doing...I appreciated it alot....but from the amount of people who read it it was a bad % of action.

Seems the people who really make money online are the IMers who sell crap to other IMers, via HYPE!

Well, it has certainly got me thinking and the fact I spoke to a few REAL friends offline aboiut things, friends who I respect and listen to, these friends are friends who know little about online stuff, but know ME well... I am "way too nice" online...is the advice they say.

They feel I should be more like I can be offline, which is somewhat a strange thing because they say I am a little "nice" offline too in some ways but I also have a streak of hardness in my honesty, and these friends also say they KNOW if they had an issue they could come to me knowing I won't sugarcoat things...if someone else has bothered them or hurt them they know I would certainly "say something" or help in some way.

"You need to just DO what you feel will work for you online but show more of that hard honesty streak online too.".

This really got me thinking and I have to say...they are right.

Some of you disapointed me.

Alot of others online have angerd me.

Ah well... lessons learnt.

To many want what they can't have...instant results, instant riches, yet IMers sell bullshit that hypes this very "want" up.

Sad, but hey IF thats what works... should I do it?

You tell me.

Interestingly yesterday was a great day, saw ALOT of people here on the sea wall during the battle of the bands gig, and so many said, "how do you do this, that, do people really make money online?"

So I relaise I DO know enough and more than most about this lark, and I tell you the ones making the most are the snake oil sellers, if you don't think so... why not?

Who makes the money if not these IMers who are mainly fakers?

Ok, if I have to do something to stay online should I sell what I do know?

I would rather just GIVE it all away on this blog and let others decide the true worth...but it won't work fast enough or well enough, and most are just to plain happy to take!

This anger and disapointment is going to drive me more now, but you probably won't see it as I will not be online much longer, so you also won't get what I GIVE freely.

Stuck in no mans land and it's getting bigger and lonelier all the time!

Any thoughts?

"Creating the blog"

A big welcome to all new readers, great to have you pop by.

Following on from the last post I did, where I am just posting in the hope it helps some readers to start blogging, but for some of you new readers, I don't need to advise on starting...oh no some of you have some great blogs going and I will read more... ;o)

But you are very welcome to comment and add to anything. :o)

So... cracking on, now for those who did what was mentioned in the last post will have had some fun or possible frustration.
Either camp's good.. ;o) ...Means you are learning and that curve is already shorter.

So, what now?

First a couple of home truths...what the "big guys" don't tell you in the "ebooks" you see.

1, It's NOT easy, simple yes, not easy but very worth doing.

Anything is simple IF you follow a step by step plan of action and DO.
Nothing really complicated is even needed to take a BIG stride and keep that ball rolling.
Put it this way, it's alot harder to "give up" once you DO have a blog up with a few post and you see it!

The first hurdle...starting is the easiest time to give up!

2, NO ONE will read you blog for a while and it will frustrate you...for as long as you let it!

"Build it and they come" is the myth of which the dream chasers hope for when they buy the "next big thing ebook".
No one will even KNOW about your blog unless you actually DO something to share it...you HAVE to market it in some sense.
To some that's a dirty thing, snake oil sellers... "Internet marketing"...is simply promoting whatever on the web... a blog for instance?

But simply telling your online friends about your blog in IS in a sense "Internet marketing"!
So YES you will have to learn how some things work.

But don't let them discourage you. :o)

Because there is just an easier way now and that is because the web is now how it should be.

Let me explain...

Web 2.0 is simply to me a term for the "more interactive websites and systems"

The more interactive YOU are, the more you benefit...it's PEOPLE not websites... ;o)

But I am slightly ahead of myself here... I'll end that slight diversion on this... you have had by now had a good look around at blogs etc to research your "topic" as in the last post... so you were interactive with them, you were "traffic" ;o) See..you will get the "traffic" aka "people"

But they are PEOPLE first, traffic second yet inseparable.

So start with people in mind and continue with people in mind.

On with the post... ;o)

Before naming your blog you should give some thoughts to keywords or even using branded style if you have in some way a brand of sorts to use...name etc.

Your content will use whatever keywords suit your "topic" etc so a keyword is not essential in the blog name...in my opinion.

But it won't hurt... ;o)

Creating the blog, using blogger from your google account with the by now researched ideas on whatever your topic with bookmarkd sites and blogs to get inspiration from.

You want to use inspiration from what caught your eye, but keep it simple enough to keep on top of and build as you go. I used minima templates as my first one and learnt alot about the code behind html etc...with the new blogger layouts you don't need to know it, just choose wisely. ;o)

Now you should take heed of this... you want to ignore the fact people may not read your blog alot for a while as it will do after a while.
The most important thing is to simply get cracking so now create a post...300 words maybe to get you going if more happens, great.

Don't stare at the blank screen... heres what i want you do to help you out there, whatever the topic...

Imagine I am sitting there with you and you are telling me about your "topic"...

Look at my pic... then sit and write... imagine it.. "hey Rob, I got all these tips on how to maintain a harley davidson"

Me : Oh yeah.. tell me a bout it.. write a list of ten.. ;o)

"Rob... I got these great recipes to share"...

Me:... Great, are they cakes, main meals etc? What Origin...

Oh, just some old english recipes passed down... "

Me: I'll read and use them.... ;o)

Write...write more, don't edit just write write, this creative writing comes flowing from you and the edit mode is later! ;o)

When you run out things to say... (IF you do!), click SAVE NOW get up and go put the kettle on or coffee pot and take a break from it... ;o)
Pat yourself on the back too...not while sipping ya drink though! Doh! :x)

Now you go back and READ your words... dont edit.. just read... make sense of it.
DO NOT put yourself down for any of it.

You just want to capture what "I" would read... ;o) Unedited.

Now you can alter spelling stuff only!

I get amazed at I need to edit less and less as I blog nowadays.. it flows fluidly at times.
Practice makes a massive difference...repetition is a great learning process.

What you will have will most likely surprise you, maybe 440 words... maybe 600... ;o)

More... doing better than most.

Tidy it up some, slightly reword a few things you feel needs doing and PUBLISH !!

That's IT... you have started and you are now a blogger! Ok.. calm down!.. ;o)

Now this is important... try to post at least 3 post a week, more if possible daily being better!

The first week you may only get a few visitors, but now you have a blog up with 3 or more post and it's a ball rolling.

Next, some ideas on pushing that ball better. ;o)

If you like this and it helps... great, up to you what you do NEXT, stumble this, digg it, share with someone, subscribe to my email updates or feed, comment to it, or even buy me a beer! ;o)

After all you are a person...people first traffic second so I leave THAT choice up to you.. :o)

Remember to write it with me in mind, and then come tell me and I WILL read it... ;o)

Off to check stats LOL.. ;o)

Edit to add...on the sidebar here is a report on writing articles which would be a great help if you really stuggle and not only that it could be your FIRST income maker on YOUR new blog! :o)

"8 random facts about me"

The lovely Alice "marketing sweetie" Seba has been chasing me!

Ok...she tagged me with a meme...same thing anyway! ;o)

The meme is 8 random facts about me.

Do I even know 8 random facts about myself?? ;o)
Lets see...

1. I was a pretty rapid sprinter in my youth running 100 metres in 11.29 secs at 16 years old.

Should have carried on with that, as I'll never know now if I would ever have broken that 10 sec barrier with age and strength...mind you it was handy for getting away from the "navy police" we had here after we would wind them up late at night while they were on "drunk matlow patrol". ;o)
Ah the memories of garden hopping on the naval estate...seeing the navy police gasping and cursing at us as we darted out of sight... and more! Great fun and great times.

2. I am an avid sports fan in the sense I keep up with ALOT of sport and am a keen "paper gambler" meaning I don't bet for real...but do get results for fun. ;o)

I can't not look at sporty side of life, I was really into sports as a kid, football, running, whatever it was I enjoyed it. I am a spurs fan!! Harvey Segal will not speak to me now lol!
I was a good left winger... and the problems we have had for England! sigh did I miss my chance lol!
As an adult I have always been up to date on most sporty things, one of my main likes is F1 motor racing. ;o)
Go Lewis... you will do it this year, and I got the last two years right in paper bets with Alonso!

3. I survived falling down a pot hole at 9!

Made the national news though, strange watching yourself on TV especially with that situation as a kid... ;o)
Most of my old offline mates will remember it well. I feel about 30 ft, head first and landed on a ledge luckily because it was probably over 100 ft deep.
Sadly and I STILL think about this, someone in Italy died that same month falling down a pot hole. I'll never forget that and wish I could find out more about that child.

4. I LOVE pickled onion sandwiches!!

YEP... just plain chopped up pickled onions in bread and butter, this was something my beloved nan made for me when I visited, back then almost daily. TRY IT... ;o)
They go well with chips too... chopped up.
My fantastic nan often made us salmon sandwiches too which were lovely, she made a great stew too...always had at least two bowls of that! :o)
Sigh* I miss nans cooking...looking forward to it next time we see her. ;o)

Love ya nan! I know you will never read this but so what! Still stands. :o)

5. I cant help looking at the moon at night...if it's there I have to stare!

The moon fascinates me, I have no real idea why but it just blows me away to see it, more so when its full around here where I live.
I can happily sit for an hour on the beach looking at the moon and its reflection on the sea.
When my boys were young like a year old I used to sit the doorstep with them and we would look at the moon...they said "moon" pretty young, and "la Luna" not long after! ;o)

I honestly believe the moon effects us in more ways than we realise. :o)
No I don't sprout hair and fangs and howl!
But I do like to party and dance under the moon!

We get it almost every night...
Such a fine and supernatural light...
Every body's feeling warm and bright...
Every body's dancing in the moonlight!

That song sums up how it feels to look at the moon for me! Although cheesy it's pretty spot on lol.
But imagine being there and looking down here!!

6. My life dream has always been to have a "real" book in print!

A book on what? I have no idea...
But I have always dreamt of that, other people having a book on their bookcase with MY name on it?!
I am an avid reader of real books and always will be.
I never miss a thing in books, not like films. ;o)
And MY internal view is better than Hollywood's! ;o)

7. I LOVE a cup of tea!!

Don't ask, I am a Brit! ;o)
I am always drinking the stuff lol, I know only a few people who drink it like I do.
40 teabags don't last long in my house!
A cup in the morning before I can even think...then another to think about what I was thinking about... ;o) Put the kettle on!

8 One of my best online feelings is when I get a donation on this blog.

When I write a post I hope that it gives you readers value or at least a smile or two! ;o)
I live by being honest and rather tell it as it is, honesty goes a long way with almost everyone, there are always a few who will always be dishonest.

When someone buys me a beer using the beer icon below and says in the email notification, "hey I like your blog and writing so I bought you a beer", or "thanks for being so straight up and giving me a better perspective which made me think clearer" or "thanks for putting that straight", it makes everything feel great and inspires me in a big way, far different to selling something, very different.
It's nice to know people like reading this rag! ;o)

Well there are 8 random things about me!
Just an ordinary bloke me!

Now I have to tag a few people, some have ignored tags before for whatever reasons, so hopefully I can pick people with a not to busy time on their hands...

Lynn Terry! Because Lynn always does them and gives value! ;o)

Phil Wiley! Because it's about time I tagged him! ;o)

Martin Avis! Because I bet he has some interesting facts to share with us... ;o)

There ya go folks...looking forward to reading about you.

Thanks to Alice, that cheered me up!! ;o)

"I was right about Warriors"

Thanks to the support alot of you have given me over the last few days....especially you warriors who SEE what I was talking about and admit I was right about it.

These people naturally fear posting anything in public because they fear being deleted from the forum.

Well what do you know...Allen started a thread where he lied and USED me as an example, but at least it shows I DID hit a raw nerve, else that thread wouldn't have started.

He claimed a female warrior ask him that question which I do NOT believe happened, he made that up to post that drivel of a thread.

There it is...shining proof of what I was talking about, look at the "Thanks Allen, your great" post, utter arselicking, the very thing he said he dislikes....it's ok as long as it's HIS arse!
But I digress.

So I mentioned in the last post if you look hard enough you will see those who are working towards being the next big name to milk money from the masses...take a look at the warrior newsletter...now take a look at THAT person on the forum... wow... he is now a mod, *note to him...you got sommat on yer chin.

Such proof was lovely to see...it backs up what I say perfectly.

Having had about 20 emails from warriors who THANKED me for being straight and honest about it I realised that the "fine line" you tread at the forum is getting thinner and thinner all the time.

Walking on eggshells is not exactly what people thought they would be doing...but they are.

Those who are new there will have to tread carefully, though they do want you there because its YOUR money they are after.

Allen proved himself a coward by posting THAT where I can't answer him, but here I can say what I like... Allen you are a chicken shit!

Bet you have a shiny ass though!

Keep selling the snake oil!

Shame honesty counts for jack shit there eh?!

The other side of the coin... I have seen but am not surprised by the backstabbing going on there too, people I thought were ok have proved to be serious back stabbers and it's seemingly pretty common there from my observations.

Though there are a alot of great people there who are nothing like those I mention above, they at least have the sense to think about things the right way...neither sucking up to Allen or making themselves a target.
These are the smart ones who just get on with it.

I for one am glad to have said my piece, it hit a nerve there else THAT thread wouldn't be there now.

Maybe I have contributed to changing the place for the better.

I don't hold my breath though!

"The truth of the Warriors"

update**
Allen flat out LIED on the forum today saying people were warned before deletion.
Well I was NOT! And EVERYONE on there knows it.
**

Anyone who knows me knows I do not hold back and I do not "sugar coat" things.
I will tell it the way I see it. If what I say bothers you, don't read it.

Many of you will have recently seen what has been happening in the warrior forum, indeed myself being deleted unfairly was one of them but then I am not the only one!

Why should THAT matter to you anyway?

Well I was almost up to 5000 post and have contributed to the forum for almost 4 years and if they can treat me that way they can do it to you too.

So am I writing this because I am bitter?
NO!

I am writing this because I feel let down and I feel what I contributed to the forum has been dismissed...almost 5000 post they just casually dismissed at the press of a button, not bitter but disappointed.

Not only that...the mod who deleted me has NO backbone to even admit to doing it.

Is that the action of a decent person? No I didn't think so either...they are simply a coward.

There has been a number of long term posters with high post count who have been unfairly treated although also a few of the big names have left...including someone you all know well...
J Reese.

Although John left of his own accord I can imagine he was pretty angry and annoyed by it all when it happened, I feel he was let down by Allen badly..I wonder if HE felt that?

Bear in mind although I do not really know what went on in Johns mind at the time, I can only presume, which I won't do.

Here I will be saying what I think about the whole situation and how I think it will be going in the future and why NOW may be the best time for you to really think about your role in the warrior forum.

Look at the fact that ONE mod had been made n/a before... say's alot.

Why help them with great content and also traffic when they so obviously don't give a rats ass about you?

Stick to putting your best content on what YOU own.

Before I go further let me take a moment to explain the way I have seen the warrior forum's wealth being distributed there.
The "big guys" don't need Allen or his forum, they have left him behind, John Reese proved that.

John publicly slammed the forum, since then Allen KNOWS if he is to keep the "big guys" onside he will have to change things regarding the so called "negativity" which is not as bad as it is made out.

The fact is the bigger you are, the more you get hassle in some ways and that is what happens here.

But it probably hurt Allen to see John do that...I can assure you this is a factor else things would NOT be the way they are.

Ready for a shocker?

Allen needs YOU more than you need HIM.

Over the years there has been some great IM careers that started right there in the forum, but now I feel those days are GONE!

And Allen KNOWS it!

Shame for him, he made money from them sharing their little morsels...look at Mike F now for an example...he comes in throws morsels to the members and they lap it up.

Someone even pointed out to me that Mike has in his BFM ebook (manual?) exactly what happens in places like the warriors regarding "fans" and "bashers", if you have it...try and find it.

He is quick to jump in when his fans are losing the argument.

There are others who Allen is trying to keep "onside" and we all know who they are.

The way they promote themselves on the forum...

Yet YOU do that and it's promotional...it gets deleted!

One rule for some...one rule for others.

BUT he also knows one or two of you he can use to create some income, in fact he has already started doing that...look well enough and you can see it.

He is the bitter one really, think about it!

Why did he chase down the higher posting ladies there, I can name at least 3 he has chased out of the forum, and that's just THIS year.
I also know there are one or two who he is watching, yes waiting for ONE slip up and bang they will be gone!

Who? I won't say...you will see it for yourself.

Make sure you are NOT relying solely on that place for income.
It IS the most FICKLE forum out there.

Lets get something straight about the way I see Allen, he must get bored easy with things, look at the things he has done over the years...great start then they die off.

I had respect for the guy but sadly he has blown that recently and I KNOW I am not alone regarding that.

Buy then why should he care...he ONLY cares about the BIG guys who draws the newbies in, where the morsels can be chucked at them thus earning HIM and THEM money...yet it's YOUR money they are getting!

Sod that!

If you want to help THEM get rich then go for it...better for you to have money coming IN than out so create and sell...that's what I am going to concentrate on.

There is ONE way you can really make some serious money there...become the "next biggish guy" and being "flavour of the month"....like Jon Leger did.

Easy? NOPE.

There are others in front of you in that queue!...Look closely and you will see who..
Look closer and you will see how it became that way for them.

Yes I am serious, that and the fact Allen KNEW the members would gobble it up thus make HIM money..

There is something I should point out though, I do NOT believe Allen is making THAT much money overall with the warriors.

Simply because most of those who did generate the income are GONE, they got bigger and better so they don't need him or the warrior forum.

Here is what Allen said to me in PM... after I complained about being banned.

"The guru hating AND loving shit has got to go around here.
I don't like either side, the lovers or the haters."

Um....hang on....He loves the lovers...he NEVER complains about the ones who lick arse and love the "big guys"... he ONLY ever complains to the "bashers"...why?

Why do you think? It keeps the big guys onside having their egos stroked.

See what I mean?

I told him I don't hate anyone...not anywhere, if he read the post below he may "get it".

Why didn't he stop people bashing J Reese before he left?

Stable, horse, bolt, spring to mind.

He regrets John leaving...that much IS obvious.

So if I praised the big guys and licked their arses...I would NEVER have been n/a.

Thanks...but NO thanks... I am not sucking up to them at all... for anything.

If they are decent people who deserve respect then great...sadly alot of them are NOT!

There are one or maybe two mods there who are serious assholes.. they will delete a perfectly good post of yours and when you post asking why, that gets deleted, then every post you make after gets deleted...even if it is to help someone.

I know this it happend several times to me TODAY.

There has always been one or two assholes modding that place, they will follow you around in there and it winds you up...they drive you to losing your rag and getting deleted.

That place is going down the pan and fast.

I am not going to even bother trying with it anymore.

I posted there today asking for advice and opinions on the post below, one reason was it may help them understand why sometimes I get fired up, I asked if they could advise how I could maybe do something that will help me become a better poster there....and never guess what?

It got deleted!

No heart...no balls and no shame.

When Allen sorts out the couple of stupid cowardly moronic mods I may try again.
I don't hold my breath though as they have no balls.

Warriors, those mods? More like bullying idiots.

I am not the only one who is pissed off and fed up with it.

Good luck Allen...those mods are ruining your forum, NOT the members be them "bashers" or "lovers", they make YOUR forum work.

You don't appreciate it.

Any opinions?

"Self examination"

I have to get this right off my chest before it gets out of hand and hopefully by doing this I may learn a little more about myself, I sure need to think about things a little more with recent events.

I think in many ways I am a loner, yet in many ways I am also the life and soul of things, anyone who knows me offline will know what I am saying is probably true, a funny sort of contradiction it seems yet a true one at that.

Things have NEVER been easy for me, I know they are rarely easy for anyone but I am ME and can only have real knowledge of that.

I also know IF I want things to improve in life I have to change things to point in that direction and I am not just saying I have to drastically change because it's hard to change overnight but I can at least take things one step at a time which will eventually get me somewhere.

To do this I have to take a good look at myself and the way life has gone for me in general.

Funny thing life!

I digress... anyway, without sounding too "woe is me" let's take a look at things in all honesty as that is the ONLY way I can be...honest.

So... mum got pregnant, caught rubella...causing my deafness, which I would have no other way especially when you consider ANYTHING could have happened to me, so I ain't got the bad deal. ;o)

Being deaf was never gonna be easy by a long stretch, but if I may say so I done pretty good as I talk normal, never used sign language and live as normal as possible.
That has been a problem in itself though in some ways, a constant battle!

In some ways I am my own biggest bloody enemy...THAT I need to change.

School was ok, I liked it and never got bullied too much, no more than I could handle.
But it was the start of the way I became.

There are so many things that people seem to think I don't notice, like if I liked a girl it soon became obvious they liked me, but didn't want a deaf boyfriend!

Yet once ONE girl went out with me, the others wanted me...you know what they are like, want what they can't have!

You know it still happens that, I can be talking to a lady in the pub all going lovely looking like I am getting lucky, then I mishear something and say "oh sorry I should have said half hour ago, I am deaf so I lipread"... bang...they change and I think..."not again, ok sod yer, I am off" and I will just walk away.

Their loss not mine lol!

See..I am not stupid and never was!

Now I lipread the ladies across the bar to see first who likes me... ;o)

But I am getting ahead of myself here, going back to my teens, the age my own sons are now it was a shit time with things at home.

See the little bullying I ever got at school was nothing compared to what my dad gave me and I think 80% of my problems stem from that, they are still having an effect now.

I now realise more why I am the way I am.

See my dad used to hit me in the garage in front of his mates.... these mates were arselickers to my dad. there it is, exactly why I hate arselickers.

He even hit me in front of MY mates...how the hell do you think that made me feel?

It stopped as soon as I hit him back...that fight put my neck out and mum had to take me to hospital where I had a neck brace thing to wear.

These so called mates of my dads don't have anything to do with him now, but they also wont look me in the eye...actually I scare them now I am a big boy.

Yet pick on someone and I WILL stick up for them and it usually cost me too but I will still do it whatever it cost me...is that a bad thing?

So I left school and started my stone masonry apprenticeship...if you know anything you know Freemasons are central to stonemasons...if you "fit" you will be ok, I didn't fit because I hated that other worse masons than me got better work than I did...it's not your skill, it's your arselicking ability!

This is one reason I have not stuck to stone masonry, I don't want to be an angry worker, more so with a bloody great mallet in my hand!

I don't deal with being "told" what to do very well after the shit with my own dad.

Having two sons of that age I was I just cannot fathom ever hitting them...never and they know I will never hit them not for anything.

It's sick and sad...If I saw a man hitting his teenage son, you could be sure I would soon stop it.

My dad being a bully has made ME a better dad.

But it has also screwed me up as a person in some ways.

I am not blaming my dad in some ways because I am sure if he could wind the clock back he would have done things different, no-one gets a trial at this stuff.

But it happened and we have to live with it.

Once I left home at 16 I never spoke to dad for about 6 years, now we don't speak at all.
The strange thing is he hates me!
Even though he was the asshole in all of this, after all there is NO excuse for punching your kids in the face.
He knows NO shame.
He tried to turn my family against me.

Bastard.

I feel bad I have his surname and wish I had not kept it and given it to my sons.
See he is NOT my real dad though he has been there since I was a baby.

Anyway... it seems to explain alot to me about the way I am now and how easy I can get annoyed at things like on the forums.

The majority of my anger IS aimed at the arselicking... I wish I could stop getting annoyed about it.

Hopefully this will explain a few things about me and the way I am.

Any opinions or advice?

"Shocking stats"

So over the last few weeks I have been getting back into the swing of things nicely and moving swiftly in the right direction, that's down to a few things.

Blogging by it's nature has ups and downs with posting, at times it can't be resolved as with my case.
Losing momentum was a key area for me and I believe it is an important thing with building a blog and giving the readers what they want...content.

During the offline hassle the blogs visitors dipped alot, naturally.
Now a month on, the blog's traffic has gone right back up to almost 3000 for July. :o)

Pleasing to say the least.
Averaging 100 a day is not to be sneezed at really.
Not my best month but still a good month and there is a week left yet.

Great to know at least you are happy to read the blog, thanks.

The bad side of the stats which surprised me was the fact the response to my offer in the post below was not as good as hoped, but not as bad as can be.

Well over 300 visitors in 3 days...to that blog post and 11 takers.

I can't believe it really, a service that will help you if you play your role and be 100% honest to yourself is not taken up, they miss the potential, yet...

If I had offered an ebook that was ok and you learnt things yet it just sat on your hard drive gathering dust it would have been snapped up by more people?!

Especially newbies who suffer lack of focus more than most.

Yet it did nothing to change things, because you read it and did nothing.? Wasted money.

Yet with my offer you would have HAD to take action or you would be wasting the money joining in the first place.

If you took NO action with with mine, fine...you are in the same position as you are AFTER buying the book....wasted money.

Strange this, so it's leading me to question alot of things.

Any opinions on this?

P.s Warriors...would it help to offer you a free warrior way book after you join?
I am going to revamp it and you as well as others who have bought will also get the upgraded version free. If so... buy the offer as below, use beer function and you will get a copy!

If that is good enough for you, do it, then email me to warriors+deafdad AT gmail.com
(replace AT with @ )

Its only good for this week!

"The ultimate fake it till ya make it"

There's a fella you may know, he goes by the name of two initials, if you know who, you must be in the IM niche!

That about sums up the fake that is...you know who, a persona who has probably earned the right to be called the "Ultimate fake it till ya make it".

Lets be clear about something straight away, the real person behind it, is probably a sound(ish) person... ;o) Most likely he is.

But the web of crap and faking it will trip you up in the end, just as lies do for the liars!

There has been plenty of "stepped over the line" moments for most people, the recent events that pissed all the ladies off comes to mind.

No doubt, the real fella is sound and done a great job of marketing the persona the way it needed to be done in order to get the desired results...made it!

The real fella is a good marketer in his own right.
He did what he planned and a good job, to a point, still ain't directly publicising ya persona.. ;o)

But to a point means he did overstep the mark with many.

Ah well this persona writing / marketing must be fun... ;o)

Rather be myself, yet had I done something of that nature it wouldn't been that extreme!

What a .... ;o)

So, no offence to the real fella, who is probably doing great and no doubt a nice bloke.

But sheesh... the whole thing has to die off soon surely, I mean the whole circus!?

Or will he lap it up from newbies from now till they wise up?

Lets face it... If I go out to town tomorrow and stand in the street asking passers by if they know who ?? is?

They will say...who?

Not ONE will know I bet.

So is he not the "Ultimate fake it till ya make it"?

Fame only in the IM niche really?

Has he gone as far as it can go?

Did the gullible ones really decide to go meet a "fake"?

Funny thing show business, even funnier in IM show business!

Any one else have an opinion on it?

Feel free to comment...click "speak up" below.

"Is John Reese a scammer"

That was the unbelievable question I was aksed in an email.
I will not say their name as they asked me in confidence.
I obviously don't want to abuse the trust that got them asking me.

The email went to explain how they felt as I show myself to be honest on the forums etc so felt they could ask me and trust me.

Thats great, I am grateful for that trust.

Ok... so I asked them what they meant?

This is the gist of it.

Hi mate,

Sorry about this but I am fairly new to all this and hear alot about John Reese and wondered if the guy is trustworthy, is he a scammer?
Should I listen to him or not?
I see his new site is giving everything away free.
How the hell does he make money doing that?
Something seems to be making me feel that we are not getting the whole picture.
Thanks... xxxx (thats not KISSES, but removal of the name) ;o)

Ok...

I have NO idea how this operson found John or his site, I am guessing through a forum or newsletter link.

I replied to them in email and told them I would also make a post here about this.

Is John a scammer?

No I 100% do not think he is anything like that at all.
Having been on his list and known him online for a while I would say he his one to watch if you want to learn anything about making strides online.
Lets face it John has gone further down this road than 99% of us.

He KNOWS what he is talking about when it comes to online marketing and making money.

He has always given value for free. Yes his new site is giving tons of info free and will help you make strides if that is what you want to do, one thing you must remember is no matter what you will STILL have to put the effort and work in to succeed.

It don't fall on your lap.

Regarding asking how will he make money being free.

Lets be honest John don't NEED the money no more, he has already made millions, he will always have a residual income from all the hard work he has ALREADY done.
If you want millions you will need to put that hard work in too.

But this new site will STILL make him money, how?
Traffic, loyal readers who then get on his list who trust him enough to buy his products when he does release them.

Give freely and people will come back for more, no?

I see it as John is already quite an authourity in this "making money online" arena so it makes sense for him to create the ultimate free authourity site.

So should you listen to him? Yes.

Is he a scammer? NO.

Are you seeing the whole picture? Probably not, John is the only one who sees that.

I hope that the reply was helpful to the sender of the email.
I hope it also gives anyone reading this a clearer picture if you wondered about him too.

I am in no way connected to John so gain nothing from him telling you this.
I answered this because the asker deserved my honest opinion.

If you want to ask me something then great, do so.
If you feel generous you can tip me by buying me a beer by clicking the beer icon below.

It's thirsty work this lark! ;o)

"Honest marketing"

The death of hype, especially in IM!

I will stick my neck out here and say...it's gonna die!
Already it's undergoing a slow steady decline, hype sucks.

Hype is what you buy into...the sizzle.
Sod that...
NO-ONE can sell you your dream...they are yours to achieve, not buy.

Let's cut the crap...it's a mindset they are keeping you into...to fleece more money from you.

I get well turned off by all the crap hype shite out there and I know many of you do too.
It will pass...when it stops working so well, you can bet your ass the marketers who use it will drop it like a hot stone.

Then they will start coming over all "honest", far too late then, the rep they have will stick.

Roll on the BS hype free marketing!
It cannot change soon enough.

Real honest content will win the day.

Content people will appreciate.

Honest marketers will clean up.

Marriage- turning Lynn Terry down!

Lynn posted an "off topic" post on marriage all the while thinking I wouldn't spot the subtle "subliminal massage".

That the preference was for a "Brit with a hearing problem and a sense of homoUr" which narrowed it down a tad.. ;o)

Yet I had to say no... bit far away you know..

Joking aside..

She will kill me!! ;o)

Good headlines work do they not?

But wait..before you dissapear.. it was for a reason and a good one at that.

Not only it got you here...

I am a little at point where I NEED to get something off my chest, not in a rant sort of way, but in an positive yet straight manner.

Anyone who knows me offline, and I KNOW a few my offline real mates read this.. ;o)

They will tell you I don't shy from making friends or being honest, and yet a mate says
I need to show a little more of the ME through this blog...so I will.. ;o)

I am sometimes to honest for my own good, some say, but I don't feel it ever pays to not be honest.

They have a great point there and it ties in with something I have been thinking about alot since getting back online.

Being online is getting more and more like being offline... except faster.

You may well have heard of the term web 2.0 before you groan or wonder, depending on your view, lets get something straight here, it is NOT hype!

Some WANT you to believe that, simply due to it being a potential banana skin for them..

Before I explain why grab this superb book from Tiff, read it as soon as you finshed this post, it will clear it up nicely, not only that you will also see more of Tiffany Dow in the future I think..why? take a look at her easy to read, clear easy to grasp style..

See why the top dogs have hired her in the past?

So...the banana skin?

It's getting to be a people driven market, people are voting with their word, with their fingers.
And if your product, service don't cut the mustard it won't last!!

Simply put the net IS running more on word of mouse than ever before.

Hype to far or lie to much and you WILL get called out on it... but it also means the people are the ones who will clean up the niches, and the net.

This post is a perfect example of web 2.0 in action.

Its about interactivity more than anything, that can be acheived in so many ways, and its good for so many different reasons.

Linking to others is part of it, blogging itself is part of it and those who fail to grasp this will miss out.

Look at John Reese's blog here and tell me THAT isn't interactivity...two post...over 300 comments.
And THAT paticualar commant was someone helping ME... see the people interacting here?

When you want to buy someting...

The people don't wanna get ripped off, the people don't wanna get lied to, the people don't wanna read boring long sales letters, they want a real recommendation from a real person, someone who they trust, believe.

People need to be honest...straight..

Thats why you won't see me selling how to make money selling books on...

"How to make money selling books on how to make money"!!.

Because I am NOT making silly money.

Those of you who are sharp will have already noticed that.

Ok that's most of ya.. ;o)

Here is what got me putting that up here.

So..while it pissed me off a tad, it got me thinking positively, the only way to banish the negative.. ;o)

As this post implies its a people driven thing, I will let you decide whether my rambles are worth tipping for... ;o)

But tippers won't regret it.

They will help me move FASTER to where I need to be.
