"Autumn sunsets"

portland sunset on TwitPic

A nice time of the year to see the sky here on portland, the pic here (click on it for larger version) is just behind my home.

Seems to be the sky is never the same twice, could be true of anywhere but it is so noticable here. :o)

Why we never tire of seeing or taking pictures of the sunset here.

Wouldn't you?

"A hidden gem of Portland"

Church Ope Cove, a place we spent many a summer when we were kids, not being far from where we lived and with it being the realtively "safer 70s" in some peoples eyes it was a great place to be.

"Thanks stumblers, for showing me"

Some fantastic pictures, blogs and more.

Stumbleupon is great, I like using it and THAT is where it becomes good, when you use it. ;o)

stumbleupon

Too many people sign up to this or that and just expect results, yet stumbleupon works for those who at least try it the way it should be used.

Not only have stumblers given me some good visits stats, they have shared some great stuff that I would otherwise NEVER have found.

The name says it all, use it and stumbleupon some great stuff.

The important part is to be active, review things well, post in the right categories and give a thumbs up! ;o)

Thanks stumblers, you are great.

Like this post? Stumble it. ;o)

Or feeling generous? Buy me a beer. ;o)

"Sunset over chesil beach"

A beautiful sunset over chesil beach just as I was walking down the "incline", a steep path that leads from the top of the island to the bottom...pretty direct!

I was about 3/4 down by this time...should have walked slower! ;o)

BUT...I also videoed the sunset the other night and here it is.... :o)

"It's still a journey"

We all start at the bottom when we start out blogging, we all take it one post at a time. Everyting takes time and blogging is no different...

church ope huts

You may start off humbly like above... ;o)

With dreams of climbing that success ladder in the hope of something better and bigger.

church ope steps

One step at a time, if we all walk the steps we all take the same amount of steps...but a tip for new bloggers, the faster you start taking the steps, the better and I mean post as much as twice a day for the first few weeks to really get the pace going...before you know it you are half way there. ;o)

Pennsylvania Castle

Next thing you know, you are at the top, and you never know something like the above could be waiting! ;o)

One step a time... :o)

"Normal(ish), untill christmas"

The summer end is approaching but we are having some nice weather here, the kids are back in school, the usual routine again, and mums and dads everywhere breathe a sigh to catch their breath again. :o)

A chance to get a little time to themselves and plan ahead, prepare for the coming season changes, slowly. ;o)

A nice time to pop to the beach for a breather...

Spot the people?

And further around it goes...for 19 miles!!

Bring ya fishing rod and take your spot.
Plenty of room. ;o)

Beautiful eh?

Sept has hit us and now is the time to start planning what you have in store with your life, work, blogging.

You are planning to take advantage of seasonal things, aren't you? ;o)

Halloween comes up, Guy Fawkes, Christmas.

Do you add these to your plans?

Blog about what you can relating to you and your blogs topic, theme?

Planning early and planning well you can make the most of being seen when the time comes, being prepared with good articles, ideas, blog posts, contests and other angles can be a great boost, if you can keep the momentum going you have a great chance to improve the following ones, like Christmas. ;o)

While you take a breather, take time to also reflect on what you can add to the mix for the next few months. ;o)

Any thoughts?

"Portland and it's beauty"

I have had a busy day today with a new site I have set up that I hope you will all like.

If there is one thing about Portland here that sticks in most peoples minds once they visit it's the stunning views we have.

There really is nowhere quite like it.

With the amazing reach of the net we have it's great to find old friends online who lived here once and for them this is the perfect addition to their PC.. ;o)

Take a look at it and see for yourself why it's the only world heritage site in the UK. :o)

Click below...

Portland...

Back... hope you grabbed it at that crazy low price, which I am unsure if I will keep it that low for good so now is the best time if you are interested.

Something else, this shows you can always create a product from something...it doesn't have to be an ebook, software or anything others say you should create.

Why can't you create something similar to what I have here?

"Wish you were here"

A nice drink at the pub watching the sunset tonight! With both my brothers and another friend.

A must do in the summer here whether you are a local or visitor. :o)

The sound of the waves breaking on the pebbles, people fishing along the shore line.

The sky changing colours as the minutes pass by.

Ah... bliss!

"Driftwood blog"

As previously mentioned I am going to be making some more driftwood products to sell, I will use ebay too.

I thought it would be an idea to set up a driftwood blog for all of the frames, which will be like a nice gallery.

Over time I hope people will be able to check things before buying which will help gain positive reputation on ebay and beyond.

Another option open to me is to take these to the local "holidaymakers" type of shops in town.

What do you think of the blog?
Any improvement ideas you can add?

Of course comments will always be welcome from you, but on the other hand the idiots who spam or generally post nothing but crap like links will not be posted.

The sign is quite clear if you ask me!

So by all means if you want to chip in with a comment or response to a post please come in take a seat...

The view from this seat is stunning!

Back...

And badly disapointed about the lack of service I have had from BT and Tiscali...who now OWE me money!

Bloody nightmare...what happened to "customer service"?

Long time gone that is I think.

Looking at my inbox not much has changed in the bubble that is IM,"Internet marketing" that is.
Nothing new there then, to nick Andy's phrase!
Good to back and able to at least communicate with the world again.

I am looking forward to getting things back on track, while also trying ideas I have out, like selling these great driftwood frames I have been making...all from Chesil beach.

This is 32 inch long by 13 inch high.

Looking lovely if you ask me!
Any buyers?

My head is all over the place since Kaya left and it is hard to focus on anything for longer than a minute!

During the last few weeks I had been going up to chesil beach and grabbing some driftwood to get creative.

Here is the mirror I already had in my bathroom, with some added touches, needs a few shells and bits adding yet but it's a start.

Got a big box of wood and I have some ideas to utilise them with, mirrors, pictures, alsorts!

What do you think?

Something you would have in your home?

"The Verne"

verne prison at portlandA forum user asked me if the well known "underground prison" was still here at Portland, which as you can see from the pictures is still in use.

This is an old prison, I know it was one of the hardest and highest categories at one time.

There is a tale I started reading one time in a quaint old book about this prison and it's prisoners, a man known as something like "crazy bill, wild man of Portland", or something like that!

Been some seriously crazy ones in there in the early end of the last century!

But...

Even in my childhood in the 70's it was a higher known and badder reputation than it is now.

Here are a few pictures of the Verne!
This first picture is looking at the entrance gate, you can see the prison shaped into the hill clearly here, on my immediate right is the bridge to it, as seen in the second picture.

the bridge view and the trench at verne prison This at literally the top of the island. The second picture also shows the "trench" that goes around the prison, very deep too.

As kids we used to say..."wow, you can imagine lions in there at one stage, like some Roman fortress this, they would eat one who dared escape!"

Even my sons had a laugh at that, but started adding there own little ideas into it... ;o)

view south of verne prison and trench
Gotta love the imagination!

The last picture is also taken from the same point as the other two.

Just a little to to the left so you can appreciate the depth of the prison and how it "fits" into the island, as well as that trench!

Quite high up here! :o)

"Pair of cool dudes"

Taking pictures again is great, here is a picture of the two coolest dudes on the planet!

Ok, maybe I AM biased... ;o)

This is also overlooking chesil beach here.

As it's the easter holidays I will have a great opportunity to take some more pictures of my boys, though I will not be posting them all obviously.

It did get me thinking about something though, are you making the most of the different parts of the year in your work efforts?

Meaning do you capitilise on these events?

Easter, Christmas etc...events you can use in your marketing efforts.

Do you plan your year in this way at all?

If so...how?

cove inn from above
The weather is really perking up now the spring has kicked in full flow...summer coming!

Here is the "cove inn" from the main rd at fortuneswell.
It is the the far building nesting between the rooftops!

Sounds odd... ;o)

Living behind that has it's positives. ;o)
Not to mention the sea being just a stones throw.

A bright dog...very bright, she knew I am deaf.

A lovely picture... glad I had that taken. :o)

"Dog looking her age"

Got my new camera yesterday!
Woo wooo...
You will see changes here.

Here is my old faithful dog "Kaya", pronounced Kiya. :o)

Looking her age at 15.

She is sleeping more now and it's looking nearer to the end of the innings, good innings though I'm pleased to say.

I will miss her, couldn't have asked for a better dog. Love her to bits.

"A commitment"

Due to lack of comments on the previous post asking you to help choose this blogs direction I am going to make my own.
One is to make a commitment to posting a picture everyday.

So I commit to taking pictures everyday!

YOU could be in a picture if you are one of my local readers! ;o)

If this is a good chioce with the blog it will tell over time I am sure.
