Insignificant, like a pebble on the beach… one of many. Going nowhere fast, just moving along with the tide. I bet many of us feel like that at times, I know I do. There is only one certainty, we are all going in the same direction.

Truth is, we pretty much are insignificant. Collectively it’s a different matter of course. That is where we have the power of significance. Weak alone, strong together. About time the human race realised that. . . and collectively got off it’s knees.

Regardless, most won’t, so all we can do is stand out from the rest. Be significant. Matter.

Standing out counts

I got laughed at yesterday… it’s all good though, I can handle that especially when I know there is no malice in it. . . what I did stood out. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Is that not how you make a difference?

I will have the last laugh…

… I will enjoy that last laugh too. ๐Ÿ˜‰

See my mate laughed and took the mickey out of me about a few poems I wrote, I am a dire poet I know, the laugh was deserved (I’ll get ya back ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) but what he really missed is what that itselfย did for me, and why I did it, not just as a release but because I hoped it would and indeed it did, fire up my writing mojo again, big time.

It’s paid off for me in unexpected ways, and expected ways as I have now channeled it.

Writing way more than I thought I would, I have now stored up quite a few articles and post for those days I can’t be bothered, or have a bit of a writers block. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I have to say I am happy with a few of them as well, mainly as I think they will also help me stand out.

It’s not just in life we need to stand out to get noticed as people, it’s in all we do it seems, even when it come to doing this blogging and website lark… the writing has to stand out, plus look at the internet and the sheer scale of how many websites they’re are. And it increases every second…

Look at this live statistic page to see for yourself.ย Standing out from that lot is a massive task. Impossible really.

So, we all need to stand out, in a different way, to matter. On a smaller scale, one you can measure. I am doing just that on the other Portland Bill site. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here though. It’s a little harder to pin it down, I’ll get there though as I only need to realise a bit more of what will make me stand out. Seems I share what I learn as much as anything else.

But the Portland site has been alot easier to work out, with the focus. So…

Set out a goal

This gave me an aim, a target for myself, knowing if I reached it, I would get several benefits from it. I didn’t need to set too big a goal. I had to make it achievable in a time frame I set myself.

Well, with the Portland site, as it has a focus and a specific theme unlike my site here, I knew I could at least set a realistic goal to aim for and then just go for it, knowing I had a theme to write about. Portland.

Today, I hit that goal. ๐Ÿ™‚

I set myself a target of 500 visitors to the site in a day, within a month…

I smashed that today. Now that may not seem like a big deal to some people, 500 hits a day, for me though it was, because less then a month ago it was getting no hits, nothing, zilch, nada. Just sat there….. gathering virtual dust!

The better goal is 500 hit’s a day everyday, minimum. I will do that too. ๐Ÿ˜‰ But…

Here is the proof… just the last 14 days. I did have a slight dip the last few days gone.

I felt driven to do it, to prove a point… to myself… as much as anyone else. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It would be easy to rest a little knowing I have hit that goal. but I will do the opposite… set a bigger goal and do more than I have to ensure I get there. . . again.

Double it. . .ย  1000 hits a day is now the aim and it will lead me to hit my other goals relative to that site. A plan in motion there and one I will complete! ๐Ÿ™‚

I could well hit 1000 on that site today, which would be a bonus and massive motivation. I just checked, over 950 now.

Update.. while writing this… I checked… and I see this…

Now that is doing great, way beyond what I expected, hitting twice the goal I set myself. Happy days indeed. The dip looks worse now… ๐Ÿ˜†

All stemming from…

Doing something different

Doesn’t matter what you are already doing, doing something different will make a difference. Might be small… but it will show you something.

Might be huge and take you in a whole new direction. who knows… till you try.

I was frustrated on this site, simply because I never really had a tight enough focus to work with, I still need to narrow things down a bit. . .

So I worked on what I can focus on. The site with a focus, Portland, at the same time… knowing it would be easier to write about when I needed to write more than I use. IE.. I may only publish one post, but I wrote several… ๐Ÿ˜‰

But it’s possible I wouldn’t have done any of it, had I not started that poetry release. Which triggered the writing mojo in the first place, strange as it was. . . Cheers to a certain someone for that. ๐Ÿ˜‰ (poetry for a release I recommend to anyone)

So if you are stuck in some kind of weird rut, with anything, go try something different. . .

If you are a photographer feeling like you aren’t getting the same buzz or same eye catching photos from what you do now, go try taking photos of something completely new, different. It may surprise you.

Or do something completely unrelated, just takes you mind off what it is you already do, then you at least go back to it a little clearer. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sticking at it

Too easy to give up, I have come close to it many a time, esp looking at the blog with it getting no hits, but using little things to motivate you, as well little baby goals along the way will just keep you at it. Just like those losing weight, they don’t expect to lose it all in a week, they wouldn’t set a ridiculous goal like that either. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I set myself little goals, like write 2000 words a day, some of my friends know I was doing twice that some days… why not, once in the flow, keep it going. I set a goal to publish something daily and have not quite done that but pretty close to it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I didn’t give up, I got stuck into it again the next day and a couple of times added that missed days task onto the current one, so I may well say right, gotta do 4ooo words or publish two articles and make em big ones. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I did one day write 8000 ๐Ÿ™‚ … I slept that night. ๐Ÿ˜‰

You may have noticed it… I do this for me more than anyone else, what success I aim for comes in time, soon enough. It’s not the main point now, the only thing I have to do is keep at it.

Because the thing about these types of blog sites they need to be actively updated to really keep it alive to the point you are happy and have grown enough organically to slow down what you do, knowing your visit count won’t drop. I’ll get there too. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ask for what you want

You notice at the end of each post I actively ask people to share my post with their friends, on any of the social platforms?

I’ll be doing it on this post too… ๐Ÿ™‚

The main thing is what I wanted, I asked for, if there are people who can help you reach a target, ask them to. ๐Ÿ™‚ Look, proof above here it works.

If you have goal you know what you need to do to get to it, and if you can get any help, no matter how small, great.

It’s gonna be easier and better to get 100 people to share something once than it is you do it 100 times.

Don’t stop asking, you know what’s funny, everytime I go to a mates house, he always ask me to play two games with him, the card game crib (I’m liking it as I am new to it) and the dice game Yahtzee…

What makes my friend laugh is I always seem to ask for what I want, out loud… so, if I need 4 sixs on the dice, I’ll ask for them, quite often I got them. ๐Ÿ™‚

He said, “who you asking anyway?” me… “the universe mate” ๐Ÿ˜‰

Always ask…

So, you know what I am gonna say now eh?

Please do share this post… like it, share it.. comment on it below. ๐Ÿ™‚
