Although we’ve talked about making money online utilising keywords, creating products, targeting niches and also not doing everything yourself.
It doesn’t mean you have to do anything of the sort if you don’t want to, there are other options as always…
Freelance work is a great place to start when it comes to doing things to make money online, everyone has some skill they can outsource for someone’s benefit, whether you do it for the money or something else, say something you need done that you can’t do yourself, freelancing works both ways.
The internet is massive! Ok that’s an understatement but it means…
…if you are good at what you do and there is some demand for it you would never really run out of freelance opportunities, even if you did you could create your own.
That is the beauty of all this “internetthingymajig”
There is no barrier to entry.
It really does level things out at the start, it’s no harder for you to start than it is your neighbour, brother, sister, friend, the barrier to entry is the same, all it takes is some work on your behalf and once going, what do you really need to spend out on other than a domain name if you are to take it seriously from an ownership standpoint?
Getting started (especially freelance work) is simple enough for everyone, even free…how you progress from there is 100% down to you, where do you choose to go?
If you want to stick to minimal outlay and hassle then you can, even free if you had to, though once you are able to you should always get your own domain(s).
Freelance work may be the simplest way to actually see money from your efforts…it’s just getting that first bunch of freelance work you need to work on hardest, that, if done right is bound to create some momentum! No?
There are plenty of sites dedicated to freelance style work, alsorts of work too, no matter what you can do there is bound to be something somewhere available.
If you are thinking, like me, this freelance lark sounds like a good-paypal-top-up-kind-of-thing-I-like… then what is possible, what could we do?
I have not done enough of it myself and part of this post is to also get me thinking about it better… I could always do more, do better.
If you have never done anything don’t wait… just start with something…
Writing your way to an income
If you can write articles it will be a good way to get started, don’t just wait for something to turn up, start writing and writing, write about your passion or expertise if all you are doing is learning as you go, make it easy by doing it on what you know, even if only for saving to your pc and not posting anywhere, for now just get into the groove of producing.
Once you know you can create decent articles then you can start posting samples on a blog or site, make it clear that it’s an article sample site because then the readers and search engines know it’s not focused around ONE topic, or niche, saves the confusion.
Importantly add a page for contact, you want it to be easy for anyone to get in touch and offer you work.
Then add a few to article databases like ezinearticles, always linking back to your blog or site in the articles, do the articles as best as you can.
Then start looking at freelance sites to see what is available, you will also have examples to show them too, if anyone ask for them and do not undersell yourself!
Don’t just write for others
At the start I mentioned the other ways to make money online, well thinking about it, once producing something then you could take these other ideas into consideration as it’s no more real effort to make them work as well as the basic freelance work to boost things.
If you manage to get some freelance work, you may have to even research a little to get the right info you need to write about, if so do it to the best you can but also do more than you need to do, if you only have to do five 500 word articles, then do ten of them…from the researching you may find you can take other angles with it, mix it up or just see what other articles you can up with for yourself, all from doing these ones for the boss buyer.
Then overdeliver if you think the buyer will appreciate it, give them 6 articles and make the 6th one an 800 word article!
A small extra that could go a long way.
Start packaging that extra work
As you know creating products is one way to go, with this in mind you can gather all articles that related in some way, niche, theme, topic and consider selling this as a part of a PLR article pack…
PLR = Private Label Rights, meaning the buyers can do whatever they like with them, you are selling it all, rights and the content.
Think 1 folder with 10 good 400-600 word articles would sell for 30 – 40 bucks a pop?
Create a short report to sell, written around same topic, sell some based on PLR so they can do what they like with them?
Add these to your blog or site too, remember marketing is half the game!
Never stop believing
Probably the most important thing, don’t worry about the misses, we can’t have it all on a plate from day one… or anytime really.
If you give up then it’s a cert you won’t get anywhere, no doubt about it.
If you think I am getting the results I want, think again but you don’t see me giving up, I believe I will get to where I want to be with doing all this, else I would have stopped by now.
Keep on keeping on, that is just the way it has to be, so even if you don’t get that freelance work, if you at least do something, (like above) don’t wait around, before you know it you got something done and you are on the way,
You may have a blog or site started with a few decent articles on it, a PLR offer somewhere, maybe more and it will get noticed by someone soon enough which means you are creating your own opportunities.
You could just go for it yourself by starting your own research and get producing, needless to say following this would help you massively.
It’s not that hard to get started writing… this post is 1090 words till this point!
If I can do it, you can. So, what are ya waiting for?

I’ve done a fair amount of content/copy writing but have not pursued PLR article packs. This is something new for me to explore. Thanks for bringing it to my attention and for all the great information you share on your blog.

Great article. That is why I envy writers so much because there is a lot they can do. Graphic artists too, have lots of opportunities. Everyone seems to be looking for artists or writers. But yes, the internet is massive and there’s opportunity for everyone.

Haha! Thanks! I am currently in Utah (until 2012, that is) but we came from the Philippines.
They teach us English at school, that is how we learn the language.
