No hope for spammers

No Ope

A common thought! 😆

How many times do we think that? When it comes to the understanding the opposite sex, pretty often I’ll bet! 😆

Regardless…

Online, I think some people really are living in cloud cuckoo land.

I added a contact form on this blog, mainly so you readers could contact me anytime, with questions, thoughts, ideas, whatever, and it’s been good in the sense a few of you have emailed, I did notice a few of you had never left a comment on any post itself, so guessed you are more private, therefore that form is better for you, great, glad it helps, don’t stop if you have anything to say. 😉

I did NOT put it there to be spammed by assholes who think they may get a result! You won’t! You will most likely get a short two word response… or maybe I”l just not even do that, something else instead! 😉

Never guess what? …

Spamming never works.

Any spamming is not worth the time it takes, granted some spammers get lucky by sheer numbers and the fact there are gullible people out there.

Spamming is hopeles really, any spam, comments, email, whatever, it more often than not pisses people off.

Me?

Getting sick of seeing the stupid spammy comments and emails via the contact form on here, mainly SEO firms that email spam, say’s alot eh … is spam part of their SEO work? (I tell you now, you have NO HOPE of getting anywhere doing that crap! But I might just rip the piss out of you, if I feel like it. 😉 )

I said it to myself the other morning, when I saw another stupid request to do a a JV (joint venture) with some spammer who claims to make £10,000 a month doing sod all from facebook! Yeeeah right! Another punk unicorn juice seller! Hopeless! 😆 … any rainbows to go with that?

I got another two days ago with promises of “getting me ranked 1st in google” … well that ain’t hard, google the phrase “baby fed vultures”  oh look… mine is number one of over 250,000 results!!

And it got there within HOURS. 🙂

Pat on the back time for me, right? Well, no…

Because, who in the world will search for that phrase? No-one!

In the future I am just going to rip the piss out of these people, post their email address only so they can be spammed silly!! Unless they stop! I won’t reply to you, just take the piss, while sharing your email address for the spam bots to pick up.

As for the lame comment spam, they ain’t gonna get through no matter how often you try, it annoys me when one person who almost always leaves decent comments, has already been approved by me (by way of me approving his many comments up to now) keeps getting caught in the spam folder!

I know, stupid really, that’s due to askimet ignoring these things, sadly.

Nevertheless, what makes it worse is some of the lame comments that askimet miss, which are clearly spam to my eyes, these go to the “pending” folder… why? They are worse than any comment the aforementioned decent commenter (Jason)  has ever left!

Askimet needs to improve what they do and soon, if another comment spam plug-in pops up which does as good a job as askimet, while dealing with any issues faster, better, which is also improving the plug in itself.

If it has it’s own way of whitelisting and blacklisting people which WE control, then people will leave askimet behind, I for one would at least try it. 😉

Comment the right way because it’s worth it.

😆 I have to laugh at them sometimes, else I’ll get really annoyed, but have told a couple to F off… because they really insult me with that crap. 😉

Better to take the piss out them, then I can link to that piss taking post on the contact form just to give a second to think… 😆

The problem is they don’t use real email addresses so they won’t care about that – which is why I publish the URLs they want links for sometimes. Unfortunately for some real sites though, spammers sometimes include innocent URLS in with the ones they are trying to build links to probably hoping that will give them more credibility.

Thanks for testing the new anti-spam plugin.

I noticed some of them don’t use a real looking email, that’s a massive giveaway.

Happy to help with the new plug in, hope it works out well for you?

I’ve tried emailing the real-looking spammers off an on and have yet to get a single answer. Not sure how well the plugin we’re testing will work. Jason over at DragonBlogger says he did something similar and it only took the spammers two weeks to program in a way around it.

I tried a Captcha and got complaints from three regular commentators the very first day. They were getting “wrong code entered” type messages. Clearing cookies usually fixes those but if experienced bloggers don’t know that what are the odds other visitors would?

Akismet could be improved if they wanted to do it to eliminate most of the problems. Or WPSpamFree could allow us to adjust the blacklist and make it more business friendly. Or maybe someone will create a blacklist whitelist plugin that works. That may be harder as no one has volunteered to even try yet.

HAHA! Yeah, there’s no hope for me, thanks to akismet! Thanks for the special “decent commenter” mention Rob 🙂 I was forced to make a new email account, which makes me look more like of a spammer, it’s sad, but I have to deal with it, can’t really go against the game master of comments.

Anyway, email spams are the most scum of all the spammers out there, especially when they can also get through IM accounts, very irritating most of the time. SEO firms offering services through spam mails do reach my mail, without them knowing that I’m an SEO practitioner as well, and I think I am just wasting my time on reading them (I guess I’m just curious on how they do those too good to be true offers, probably blackhat). I’ll try to respond to them next time, with that “baby fed vulture” line LOL.

Thank you for the good laugh! I had fun reading this, and I also quoted that “another punk unicorn juice seller” on my facebook status 😀

Akismet never works for me for some reason, so I manually delete comments which I think are spam.. some I receive are really funny. Theyre trying to be nice in comments then end up dumping a huge list of links lol.

Hi Cindy… (hope that box-ad is ok up on the right?) 🙂

Thanks for doing mine too… 😉

Akimet is in my view sitting on it’s laurels… that’s just asking for trouble, they wil get dumped as soon as something better comes along, why would any business risk losing that?? It baffles me.

Yeah, some of the comments I think are ok, until they screw it up, a few could have easily got approved had they thought it out better… 😉

The spammers don’t seem to think, at all. 😆

  5. Mat says:

I agree with all discussions when we talk about blog commenting we can rectify spam easily but it may be a time taking process to delete useless comments. We call spam because those are not ethical but spammers can get in through technical process because of loop holes so i think we won’t be able to eliminate spammers totally.

    • Rob
      Twitter: robsellen
      says:

      Hi Mat,

Well, we may never eliminate it completely, because spammers could get away with things if they used their heads more, you know, bypassing what askimet thinks is spam, so it doesn’t get flagged.

But on the whole, we can always stay a step ahead of them, in time they will give up.. hopefully.

Now there is the small check box below the “post comment” box, asking you to “confirm you are not a spammer”which must be ticked, something bot’s can’t do. 😉 DON’T forget to tick that, when leaving a comment. 🙂

Gets rid of the captcha one… and now hopefully this helps even more. 🙂

That’s why I went with putting my email address on a contact page on my blog without linking it to anything, so spammers can’t just scrape the address & start sending me stuff.
