You may or may not know about or care about the Internet marketing side of things, just to let you know what this post is about … if not, skip it and go write some great articles … :-)

I do care and I think people should know about this …

I was into it one time, not selling crap, just interested and learning things, but for the last few years it’s made me gag… once this clean up starts taking hold it will be a more appealing niche again.

This Internet marketing (IM) niche really is starting to get interesting… the crap is hitting the fan for those scammers among the niche, don’t get me wrong, not all Internet marketers are scammers, not by a long shot but the scammers ARE getting found out and to many of us it’s always been obvious who the scammers were.

There’s always been good and bad people in every niche, nothing new there, online this niche is one where it stands out, much as it does in the self help one with all their kum-by-yah shitty mumbo jumbo, but what is surprising to those who know nothing about the IM niche, is when they stumble on it and (IF they do their due diligence, keeping money in pockets for now) see the scale of the “success” these baduns suppossedly have… the badduns brag about it often enough!! With the fake pictures and their crappy “pals” testimonials!

So, these people look around then see just how deep the rabbit hole is and who is connected to who, where they hang out and how they do their shit! It’s a jerkfest! And they are supposedly getting rich off it!

Well actually…

No, they aren’t!!

They are liars, they are relying on launches like people rely on wage packets! The problem is they ruin lives and rip people off, think about it for a minute…

Internet marketing launches equal wages

Yes, they may make some money from promoting their buddies crap, but nothing like the claims they make, think about it, IF they were really making the millions they say, why the fuck do they need to promote more crap constantly?

Because they are breaking even with a wage?

They are continuously feeding more and more gullible newbies into their lists trap in order to pimp crap to them… because they know anyone with any knowledge, or sense, would avoid them, I’d like to give some credit to the masses and say a huge portion of those that get “trapped” will not fall for it… so it’s a small minority, hence them having huge list numbers, they need it to get the few gullible ones…

Then continuously keep feeding those list…

They say their list(s) are important, after all, they can keep flogging shit to them yet they do the worse emails out there, not a clue, just a pitchfest galore, upsells, cross-sells, downsells and whatever damn sale they can get out of you… bollox to fleece the most gullible of money!

Yet, they must suck at that, else they wouldn’t need to keep doing the same shit over and over again without a thought for who they are hurting, ripping off. Let’s face it, most people waste money on this shit.

Avoid 99% of Internet Marketers lists

One thing is to NEVER get on any of their list, it’s crap plus bloody hard to get off them again.. not to mention they sell your email out… even though they say they don’t.

Get onto 100 lists and you will see they all promote the same crap over and over, cross promotions galore… so best to avoid ALL of that and ignore 99% of them.

Most have no idea how to do what they say they do, they are the ultimate “fake it till ya make it” bunch, still faking it most of them…

What they say and do is often polar opposites, so it’s pretty obvious when you look for it.

And I bet the list they have gives a really shit return, only fanboys fall for their crap, you will find the same people comenting on their blogs… asskissing idiots!

It’s not just their blogs…

The Internet marketers old boys club

Yes, they had some craphole called the warrior forum to hang out in too, their old boys club where they could fleece the sheeple… you can’t separate the two in my mind, I don’t give a toss what any of the so called “warriors” say… I was there when all this crap started out really, it may NOT (don’t know, don’t look at the shithole!) be as bad now as it was… but it is still happening I bet!

Thankfully I could see through them and they have never had a penny of mine, or anyone I know who has sense!

No, not all of them were bad.

I tell you this, the best people in that place were the ones who never sold anything… that leaves very few! Work it out… most have left though! Put it this way, I only trusted maybe 4 people in that place and no, I won’t name them, they are good friends and honest decent people.

Back to the scammers and their mess…

These scammers don’t have any respect for anyone, not even their gullible sheeple “customers” … nor the law half the time!

I say… Gullible because they bought into a fake dream, these ARE the target market of these scammers after all, dream chasers!

Unicorn juice and bloody rainbows! *sigh, will people not learn?!

There are no magic bullets, just shattered dreams

But these “gullible ones” and even not so gullible people are starting to rant in places, on their own blogs, on comments on other blogs, all because that hang out censors shit. Aye, you can’t slam any of these in the syndicate, or gurus, or anyone else who rips people off on the “warrior” playground, do that and get nuked.

I won’t link to that craphole, that’s cruel, like leading mice to a den of cats!

Cats that you can’t complain about there if you get caught, they protect their own, after all it is the old boys club.

So, the ones getting hurt are actively going out there and writing about it, complaining, sharing in comments on blogs, because they are not afraid anymore…

Afraid…?

The cartel are losing influence and cannot hide

Yes, many were afraid of what would happen to them, after all, they were in the same niche. They were worried about the big guys making it harder for them… but …

They can’t hide crap now like they could 5 years ago, they don’t have the influence to “crush” people who dared question them or complain, like they used to say and do… oh yes, these bastards would ruin your reputation and use their list of gullible idiots to slam you, they would call you a “loser”… they sill do. Except now, they realise they are in fact the losers, and people are waking up, and ranting about it … at last! *sigh, take ya time eh people.

Now their fucking-furious-back-peddling starts…

That is the ones who in some way are connected to these scammers are crapping it and starting to try and distance themselves, that’s gonna be hard considering how many affiliates and such these scammers have conned into becoming affailites, plus the plain greedy ones who just promoted their crap without a thought for those who may buy it… sad shit, they will all have a job on their hands trying to look “clean”!!

It’s getting so lame that some of the so called big names are trying to manipulate how they look, failing badly I must say… let’s face it, “big name” you either promoted their crap, or they promoted yours, or used your crap to help their “launch” or you used theirs to help yours… either way, you are connected, no matter how you try to “address” it in your shitty blog, newsletter… it’s a deed done that can’t be UNdone!

Tough shit! Should have thought about that a long time ago! Greed glands got the better of you…

The robot will rule, with your help too

That’s the gurus, big names, B tier affiliates, and launchers of crap… all absolutely crapping themselves… All mainly due to an R2D2 lookalike, one with the legal nous and the information to blow the whole scammers situation wide open … Creating the shit storm in the niche. Some profanity on that, but the message matters!

What we can’t do is leave it all up to a bloody R2D2 robot to make it known to people that these scammers need avoiding, exposing, so DO check out the “cloud” of names on that blog and avoid them all!

What you can do is link to that blog with some anchored keyword and help him rank for those keywords, IE, rank for the scammers names… this will piss the scammers of, being outranked by a pissed off R2D2 lookalike who is revealing the truth about them under their own name. Or even d-bags which is what they are.

You know, link to what appals you, there is enough of the scammers telling you with their own words on that site, help get them ruined like they like to ruin others. Maybe with enough juice going and people making it known the law will have to take notice somewhere.

Even Tony Robbins is getting involved! This is someone that’s just been given a platform on TV in the USA I believe?

Makes you think, doesn’t it?

Never bought his crap, so no idea what it is like, mumbo jumbo I expect, but for him to get involved with these scammers is saying something, whatever happens, he has stepped into it.

Karma is real, it’s working too!

They are reaping what they sowed

It’s getting funny, you really couldn’t make this crap up, but it is about time these scammers were properly dealt with where appropriate, by law and for them to do so takes them being aware of it, there is a simple reason non of these scammers will “sue” anyone, more so that R2D2 looking droid (a lawyer!) … for a start the scammers know it’s all true, they say it in their own words… plus they know if they sue someone, that someone is going to get some seriously damaging info about the scammers… IF they get a decent lawyer… and the law is just involved.

They don’t want the law involved at all by the sounds of it.

I’d ask the droid if he would be mine for free… I’d bet he would oblige, rubbing his metal palms in glee at the case.

Internet marketing needs cleaning up of this crap… the sooner the better, social media is helping, people, meaning the scammers perfect “target market” are in a better position to find out answers before committing to anything, and the bad crap does get talked about out there… alot more than the scammers would like…

That’s your role if you haven’t got a blog to write about it, if you ever fell for buying their crap and lost money, then go spread this post, or that robots post, or anyone sharing the truth out there, Ryan Healy has written a few things too, he has a good blog there by the way.

One thing I noticed is Ryan linked to some lawyers blog who allows a scammer to “defend” himself… and you know what, his little favicon in the browser is a Pyramid… very telling!!

It’s worth noting that even though on a few of them post on the robots blog there are 100′s of comments, (yes really) many are saying alot too, it is making people come forward and speak up.

These scammers need to be hit hard where it hurts, like they hurt others. Those fanboys, don’t bother telling me I am a “hater” or “loser” … I don’t hate them, just what they do and how they do it and I’m not a loser simply because I don’t do this evil shit they do…

So, if you been conned or know of some proof of these scammers conning people, share it, if not, just make sure you and your credit card avoid them all.

If you want to help rid the niche of this crap, share these post, link to them. Anything that helps get the word out.

Share buttons are below…

Loyalty… a precious thing in many respects and not something to be abused, so it’s surprising how many people do abuse loyalty, some may not even realise they are doing it … online it is very apparent with Internet marketers, some bloggers even, taking liberties with their readers, customers and potential fans, fans?

… You know, people who spread your value, freely.

Why they do it, I have no idea, nor do I care that much, as long as you, me, those I respect don’t do it… all’s well, the more the greedy idiotic ones screw up, the sooner they fail bad the sooner it stops being so much that way.

We can all do our bit…

It’s the one reason I got OFF all the marketers list (newsletters! – more like my buddies have some crap to sell spam) and these supposedly good marketers say I shouldn’t do this, preaching that we need to “stay on the ball” within the niche… to that I say bollox… all it does is jade you and influence you with the negative vibe around it… don’t bother.

They give nothing of value that will make you loyal to them.

Although some really do give value.

Same as reading feeds in your feed reader… are they all really giving value? If not … why bother with them?

We should all prune and prune diligently, everything.

With anything, twitter followers, RSS subs, friends on social sites, etc, anything online… before doing more, can you improve what you already have?

By pruning and cleaning up things you can certainly make it better for you… and it’s you that has to use it, put up with it, good and bad.

For me, I am picky everywhere if I can help it, though I have neglected to keep on the ball with everything I think that’s a case of spreading oneself to thin… easy done but if you don’t try things how will you know if they are worth using?

Don’t be surprised if a profile of mine drops off a social site, it may happen… the main thing for me is, does what i get out in value equal the effort out in to get it?

For some places, understandable as places change, it’s getting to be a big no… twitter is one site I use less than I did, but I still use it, just not the way I once did because of a few factors, yes, I have had good connections and conversations there but sure as hell can’t find them anymore… it has no legs set up that way for me.

There has been a few interesting changes which make all this the more important, people are losing things and in some cases just abandoning services – one thing is this blog is mine, it isn’t going to be closed, like any of these social sites could do, anytime and that means I should value what I do with this over anything else.

Same as everyone else really, do more on what you actually own and use your time wisely on what works elsewhere, dump the rest.

Agreed?

More so, the female variety… well, I am a man, so it stands to reason!

Lots to learn, our best teacher is ourselves, I have learnt lot’s over the years, some… good, bad, crap and amazing things … lessons I need to learn at the time. Much like anyone else.

But…

Scrap that…

Let’s not go there…

Don’t want a fall out on here, well… not one of them kinds!

People though… not all is as it seems.

Interestingly… things are going to get messy!!

Things in the internet marketing world are going to blow up sooner than later, the syndicate is going to come a cropper… Salty come right out and say’s The Syndicate scams – read it all and the comments if it interests you, but don’t attach the comments to the blog owner… he is only the blog content writer … that blog is a bit on the edge of the line itself, so thick skin is needed too when reading it… can’t blame him, telling it as it is… I like that! Why he gets a backlink here …

I remember most of them starting out. Got rich ripping others off, selling unicorns! Bragging about earning 6 figure sums while earning 3 … fake it till ya make it punks! Way to go … Irwin

Shame on them eh… No, you don’t want a bleeding unicorn!

I do not align myself with any of that, nor that blog, they are not my words, so… take it for what you will, but bear in mind I DO agree with the fact they are taking liberties with people…

What's inside is what counts

These people are bad inside… They are so stuck up their own arses that they expect you to stick your head up there too, bow to them or they dismiss you … sad pricks.

The inside is what matters … what?

You want to hear about what? Women? *sigh… funny enough, there is something to connect these two things …

The majority of the bad ones in this lameass internet marketing syndicate are men… as you can see with the list posted near the bottom by “fergetabouthem”… worth staying well away from that lot.

I happen to think personally, that while there are female scammers out there, most of the time in business women are generally more honest, more upfront and more subtle in what they do, they don’t brag like the men do, more often than not they don’t need to…

Shame it’s not that way with personal relationships…

Well… you know.

Now, I am hoping this jerkfest in the Internet Marketing arena gets slammed, they start top lose anything their ill gotten gains from people.

This crap started about 2003, 2004… I remember it well… the warrior forum was a hangout, I don’t say that place is scamming, just that it was where alot of these rip off merchants got together… just like the syndicate, if you don’t fit in with the inner circle, you get nowhere.

Sucks… best avoided.

Always welcome, apart from spam!

Email marketing… the one thing I see preached everywhere as being the best thing to do… which I think is mainly hype, I say that as someone who tried it and as someone who reads newsletters and such, most are pushing crap, no matter what niche it is, there are a few email marketers who mainly give out solid information with the occasional pitch… that’s fair enough in my view.

Others are just pitching almost every email (read: permission spam) not the right way to go about it… else I’d still be on the list!

Done right, email marketing has to be a goldmine if it’s in a niche that at least makes some sales, some niches are useless!

If you are going to market by email or start a newsletter, here’s how to really succeed at it…

Make your newsletter the best thing you do!

Seriously, if it’s something you really put all your best and most important content into then people will have to sign up to get it, no?

If it kicks arse… why would they leave?

Let’s face it, if they leave then you have not given more value to them than what they pay you in money, over-deliver and you can’t go wrong.

Most have their newsletters free to sign up to, then pitch occasionally or often in the hope sales will be made, taking a punt on the numbers game working out for them, but…

A paid newsletter may work better

If you really want to not pitch at all… why not make it a paid newsletter and make it very clear on the sign up page, in promotional efforts, why and how they benefit from it from being that way, then stick to making the content so good that these people will gladly keep paying the subscription.

Instead of pitching to the readers, you could then give away your products… yes, more people will have it (no income either, directly) but balance that out over time with subscription fees you get and you should be able to profit and because you are giving good stuff to those loyal to you, they are more likely to feel they are in profit.

Granted, if you have a paid newsletter you may get less readers overall, but when you consider that you pay out yourself for doing the newsletter, often linked to the readership size, it would also benefit you in cost.

Then you realise every reader is a paying one too… and paying customers are always easier to sell anything else too, after all you may not be able to give them someone else’s product, yet the readers (you know) would benefit from said product… making it worth sharing with them… even offer an incentive with a free product of your own, one that you wouldn’t normally share, or one that compliments the pitched product!

Let’s not forget, quite often the cost to create a digital product is next to nothing, so you would have a big profit margin by giving them away to your paying readers and you only have to create the product ONCE!

Promoting your newsletter and creating the best content is then all you really need to work hard at, after all, more sign ups equals more income.

Create a lens to promote your newsletter… asking your existent readers for a few testimonials to help, this is easy to set up and once done, it’s done.

Try to find other high quality newsletters in the same niche and barter some deal with them, offer a freebie in exchange for a great guest newsletter article post on their newsletter, may get more sign ups!

Email marketing … is it for you?

SEO, internet marketing… the two things that anyone can start learning, yet also something that you never really finish learning, that’s the nature of the internet, change happens – fast and often.

It would use all our time up trying to keep up with it, which is why it’s far better to keep it simple from the start and not run before you walk… as they say.

You don’t have to leave no stone unturned like many of the die-hards.

For me the biggest lesson is that the bare basics work… from thereon everything is a bonus, but importantly we should only make one change at a time, how else will we be able measure it’s overall effect?

The bottom line is…

With SEO… we are after better traffic results.

With internet marketing… we are after better conversion results.

It goes without saying improve the first and you also get better results in the second… without even doing anything.

Improve the conversion though and you get even more out of the traffic without the need to grow it so much… a catch 22 isn’t it, a self feeding circle of influence, improve either and things improve overall.

Happy days!

Don’t you agree?

Without the crap, we can’t enjoy and appreciate the good… the down side is the damn stress, never good for anything yet unavoidable in some cases…

Like losing offline work for one, due to lack of it!

Which has put more onus on the online stuff, internet marketing, writing articles, blogging etc… having to be ramped up… and succeed, do that I will.

Internet marketing does work

The reality is, I shouldn’t need a damn offline job, knowing what I do and having been at this game long enough, perhaps not hard enough at it though, and maybe in the wrong places in all honesty…

What needs to change is the how and where…

Less is more, go big or go home.

Gone are the crappy blogs with crappy adsense earnings that make it a waste of time and space, not the first time I have culled some, I don’t see myself starting any more unless the results are a forgone conclusion, that is I know they will be worth it.

Which will happen at some point…

Authority is where it’s at

The main idea for me now is to build up the few I have that I feel I can make a decent authority site, that is making it the best and biggest I can, one is the Portland Bill site, knowing what I do there is nothing stopping me making that the Portland Bill site.

I am not the only one thinking this way either, authority is and always has been the main way… just that it may have got more important now.

The main thing for me now, having tried to persevere with blogger is to move the Portland-Bill site onto WordPress, it’s far better, has far more features I can utilise to improve the site in leaps, especially in SEO terms. I probably should have moved it onto WPress before adding the intensedebate comments… hoping I don’t lose them all!

More natural keyworded backlinks are needed to get the site ranking better for “Portland Bill” and that’s something I know will make a big difference if done right.

So, expect some changes on the Portland Bill site over the next few weeks, needed changes!

SEO on this blog

I have added the SEO Ultimate plug in to this blog, noticeable by the “continue reading” links on the home page view being keyworded per the post title, much better.

I have never really practised SEO in any real form on this blog as such, which is probably a stupid mistake I need to rectify asap… like starting now, there is alot I can do to improve things.

I am liking SEO more to “Search Engine Organising” as opposed to “SE Optimisation” at the moment, having read more and more about SEO from those I know to be knowledgeable and … yes … an authority on the subject, I realised I can vastly improve what is already on this blog… that along with all new post from here on should make some differences.

Internet marketing and SEO, they are almost inseparable… entwined, so learning more about both is the way to go, much more on SEO for me.

That’s where I am at right now…

You along for the ride?

Morris Minor... Classic!

Traffic, in the world online is nothing minor… it’s the lifeblood of getting somewhere, without it we got nothing, just blogs no-one reads.

Traffic, yeah something we all have to deal with, online and offline!

Another reason I added the facebook like is the links, when you “like” a post the link goes on your facebook profile, (try it) your own friends will see them and if the title grabs their attention, they will lead to traffic.

Yet as I said in recent post, facebook is a walled garden to most of us, so it is limited in some ways, but that stat’s show me facebook does get me readers… thanks to you facebookers.

But… it’s not just you facebook users, it everyone who reads this, shares it, comments here… you are all appreciated.

Taking Roads Always Flowing Forward In Comfort… we wish!

Online traffic though, it matters and even if you have no need for it this post may help you understand some of my intentions, you may wanna help…

Or not…

The main thing that matters is doing something and taking action is where alot of people fall, they just expect traffic to turn up, it won’t, you gotta get promoting somewhere, somehow, sometime.

First thing is… understand we should try as much as possible, but at the same time you need to be able to measure it in some form, that means doing one thing a time if need be, the beauty online is you get results fast, which means fast changes.

The key is not to have all your eggs in one basket, whatever it is, I have been there, when I got 90% of traffic from one forum and when that stopped, bosh… no traffic. A good lesson learnt.

You gotta mix it up, as we all know… not all traffic is equal.

My bro!

The only way you are going to find out what works and what doesn’t is to try things, mix it up and weed out the crap, ramp up the good.

How else will any of us know?

Social traffic is useless in many ways, but in others it’s good, it’s eyeballs, I would never complain if you shared this post on a social site – where people say it’s useless is in a marketing sense, ads and social media don’t blend for example, but hey, not everything is done for marketing, and who knows what difference one reader could make, no matter where they came from.

This is why you will see people on everything at some point, facebook, twitter, buzz, friendfeed, whatever… if they don’t start it, they won’t get anywhere and once started you should only stop if it’s not worth doing.

Some of these social sites can be awkward to track and measure, use tools that help if need be, you should track as much as possible anyway but common sense tells you alot too and using both helps, track stuff and be firm enough to dump the crap… if it ain’t working, drop it and use time better on what does, because you don’t have to use them.

What works socially for your blog, do better, do more, get more results… rinse, repeat… what fails, dump…

Starting to use other platforms for content with links back to your main blog, or better yet a related post on the blog or site, this would be writing articles for example, you submit to the directories and you have content “elsewhere” which may lead traffic to you.

Guest blogging is another way of doing a similar thing.

Creating Squidoo lenses on any subject related to your blogs, do several from different angles, have them all create funnels of traffic and backlinks to your blog or site, create good lenses and you could flog them!

Traffic is something we should all strive to get from as many new sources as possible as a way of diversifying the risk of losing any.

Considering I have offloaded a lot of crap, kept what works, I have better time and more motivation to stick more efforts into less… far better to pool all efforts into the few better sites.

So, maybe expect me to try some new ideas here too.

Getting back into it… learning far more about SEO now too.

Be good if you could share this… Thanks.

Can I ask? …

Do you still look at the same sites, blogs as you did a year ago? 6 months ago? 3 months ago… Last month?

Why am I even asking you may wonder?

Because I’ve realised I don’t like I used too either and I am thinking I’m not that much different to any other person online…

We move around online alot, jumping from one thing to another or we stick to the same things over and over, like social sites… Twitter, Facebook (and others) addicts are out there, that say’s alot.

It also means…

Losing your audience

Not a good thing and one thing we online workers, bloggers etc all have to try avoiding… personally I think it’s getting harder and in some way it’s not worth worrying about because it’s inevitable really, people change what they read just as I do, so to expect readers to always stick with us is asking alot… after all, is what we write interesting enough to deserve that?

If so, lucky us to have such readers and changing anything would be daft.

But I am not one of those lucky ones I think… to be totally honest, those who are lucky in that sense are probably few and far between and even they have to continuously gain new readers like all of us but they have the numbers for it to not matter too much.

Endless marketing and self promotion

Until you if you’re lucky, you hit that tipping point where it grows itself at a rate you can forget about it personally, which as I have never done I am no marketing expert, yet I think this is likely to be bloody hard work mixed with damn smart work.

Creating decent content, whatever it is, is simply not enough on it’s own and won’t do enough to make it matter the way we would like it to matter.

Marketing itself is funny, it’s something people shrug their shoulders at or turn their noses up to, or get excited about learning and doing, then it changes them too, good and bad!

Either way, it’s got to be done to some extent else whatever it is you do never get’s seen or gains any traction to grow in any form. It always starts with you as it has to.

That means me getting back to marketing the hell out of what I am sticking with too and doing it better.

Wanna help me with that?

It’s needed and I already started! ;o)

Having had a tidy up with my hosting and sorting files, folders out and generally maintaining things, it’s all looking better prepared for what I want to do.

As for the blog posting via FTP… at the moment it’s a nightmare to deal with, I am looking forward to ending the damn nightmare too!

Anyway… (shrugs)

When I have got off the FTP I can sort things out in a few days of solid action and hopefully, doing that will boost my motivation for it and in turn do better from there on, I might change the template therefore the look of the blog too, why not…a fresh start.

As long as I stick to the blogging rules…

When it comes to blogging, there are no damn rules… not real rules but to me there seems to be plenty of guidelines to what makes a good blog, I read enough of them and as you already know, I think you have to be better reader if you want to be a better writer.

Because when it comes down to it, that’s all that really matters, words, writing. But what power words have!
The pen is mightier than the sword, as the saying goes… gotta be careful them words there!

I need to improve the content you read, but also for it to differentiate from all the other gazzilllion blogs and sites out there I have to be different somehow.

I know I need to narrow the focus of the blog, then edit what I can to improve it for that chosen focus, improve content, even on older posts, delete what I can keep that what fits, just generally improve things all round.

But what to focus on?
That’s my dilemma, doubt I am the first to have this dilemma and doubt I’ll be the last, maybe a better thing to ask is…

How can we write what resonates with the reader in a way that matters?

People always write that following your passions, expertise, and writing around that is the way to go…while I can see why and have said myself that its a good way, but mainly to start out and get you going without letting procrastination stall you, if it’s an obscure thing, its a good practising start to move on something better and if it’s a reasonable “niched topic” with a good chance to doing well anyway, carry on and ramp it up!

If you read anything you are already in a position to know what pulls the reader in with that topic, giving you some idea of what and how to write what appeals to them, if you can so it makes sense to blog on something you love to write about, but to really resonate with readers you gotta do something special, out of the ordinary, something that gets noticed by those who’s attention you want. Zig to everyone else’s zag!

But only if it will be worth while, that is it’s not just a case of doing it for the sake of it, after all, you put alot of emotional and mental effort into it and you know… it’s hard work!

So, you gotta get something out of it too, whatever it is you choose as the reward, benefit.

If something does stand out from what I learned with experience and have seen happen elsewhere (too many times to be a coincidence) is being consistent is probably one of the biggest factors altogether, if you start resonating with the right readers with your content, however it happens, then be consistent with that.

It’s no coincidence that this blog doesn’t get as many post(s) commented on as a few of my other blogs (why it needs improving), take Portland Bill for example, because the niche topic is specific, targeted and I write about things that resonate with the readers, they read it, comment on it, almost every post… after all, they live(d) or have been here too, I am provoking their own thoughts, experiences and memories with what I write about and share, which encourages them to share theirs too. It helps leaving the ego at the door but allowing others in.

Learning from your own experience, not just what others say is so.

Whatever it is you do, if you stick at it, drop the crap, ramp up what works, learn something all the while and consistently improve no matter how small the margin… you are getting somewhere, no?

It doesn’t all have to be pretty and amazing though, it just has to be tried.

You don’t have to do one outstanding blog, you could be trying lots of little niche themed ones, seeing what works and building on that or something else entirely… whatever works for you works, be consistent in that.

So many egotistical people with an agenda tell you what you should do, usually it involves buying whatever it is they sell, but they have no idea what you need… don’t bother unless you know it will do something for your own benefit and growth, really in most cases, if these people are that good, then you can learn plenty from seeing what they do themselves, rather than from them telling you to buy something.

Not to say everything out there is useless, because that would be wrong but to say, usually, you can learn what you need from doing, rather than listening to and reading, remember, you learn plenty watching what they do, not what they say. ;o)

It’s great to learn from others, it’s worth listening to what they say, reading what they write but don’t take anything as gospel unless you try it yourself…the only proof and results that matters are your own (not illegal and black hat stuff though!) … don’t take my word for things I say on here, if it works for me, it might not for you, same anywhere with anything.

Everyone is a marketer.

I love getting stuck into marketing, marketing is everything in a sense, being passionate about it is great, the experience gained over the years is worth it’s weight in gold and every aspect of life is in some way effected by marketing, whether it’s from or too you, it’s entwined with human behaviour, itself fascinating.

The internet itself has just changed marketing by taking it to a new level, adding a better dimension to it, it’s just a new different platform with a better reach and possibility of measured growth.

It’s not just businesses, it’s everyone, everyone is a marketer…

It’s not about “pushing” something onto others etc, it’s about making the most out of everything you do, bettering it in any way possible in order to get the most from it, being aware of those on the other side of the screen, whoever that is and bettering what they see, share, use whatever it is you do.

The shift needed is getting from the customer or reader mindset to the marketers mindset, once that shift happens everything changes, overnight with some (me) or a bit longer with others but it happens and as you know mindset is everything too, it’s that important, it’s a different way of th
inking.

Once that shift happens… you realise that you were a marketer all along, just the awareness of it in every part of life has sunk in, be it and when you then look an the internet, it’s never the same again!

Everytime you share something, you are marketing someone, everytime you write something (even a facebook status or tweet) you are marketing… even if it’s only marketing yourself, intentionally or not, you have the power to build up and pull down, awareness is all you need.

You also realise the power you have if application is made to use it and with your marketer hat on!

You could make change!

Everyday people are making change…

The internet I am starting to think is the idea platform, nothing is better as an idea platform, and the value of the idea is the real currency and people are getting them ideas, thoughts, notions out there, some remarkable, some not, and plenty of middle of the road stuff… where’s your stuff fall in that?

I wouldn’t profess to saying I could change the world, but I could say my world.

Same as you, but collectively it matters and makes change.

I now realise what I want from doing what I do, to change my world, I don’t to be sat on my arse all day writing mediocre and varied stuff anymore in the hope it works out, testing, trying more, I want to write less often but with better impact, shouldn’t we all aim for that?

I want to improve the things I use to do this stuff, I want to improve the way this stuff gets out there, improve what it is that works on doing all that and keep doing that.

That’s the thing striking me about having a blog and writing, it changes you, it is almost empowering some form of self growth, self awareness, self education, naturally you learn alot doing it and you grow, one post a time.

Not that I am writing about self growth etc, just that it’s a part of the process itself and I really do think everyone has something important to share with others, it’s just finding that something.

I just realised we have to write stuff that resonates with us first, from this post I see I need to keep making the changes I am making. )

I put some effort into this post, that’s the thing I have to keep at, make every post worth writing… my reward from you? If you like it, would you share it using the button below? Comment?

So, what about you?

Friendfeed sucks…

Twitter sucks…

Facebook sucks…

Forums suck…

One way or another it all sucks.

Either it sucks your time away or if you get lucky it sucks bandwidth from your site, blog.

Often it does both and yet how do you value that time used on being social?
More so when nothing comes of it?

It’s all very well spending hours being social but if you are in the position of having to earn online it’s not helping spending it on sites like these unless there is some marketing behind it…which is part of the issue with social media not really being a “fit” with marketing…not obvious marketing anyway.

It’s been a common thing lately, this monetising issue in friendfeed, twitter etc but I mean with us as individuals.

Is it actually helping you or your work, business.

I could see a big benefit for a freelancer using social media in many ways, sharing their work etc would possibly lead to more work and could be a good move to make.

But for the majority of us?
Either it’s a fun thing or just a useful place to get interesting links etc.

So how are you using social media and how is that working for you?
