Amazing tool, the search engines. 😉

But they can’t people you know at times!

Having some issues with this blog move and setting up I didn’t want to ask to many questions of the great people who have been helping me make the move, though at times they were the only ones with the answers, something search engines can’t give you is the experience of going through the same things.

I am grateful to all those who helped me, thanks.

I still have a few issues with the redirection of older post, clearly you can see this by clicking any of the recent post in the sidebar here, you will end up on the old blog post as it was in blogger… not yet sure what i am doing wrong there but I will get there.

I can’t delete the blog from blogger until I get that sorted out, I have no wish to lose readers or backlinks because of that… so another does of patience is needed for me, I have no doubt I will get there and then I can move on from blogger completely in regards to this blog.

Not sure about the settings with the redirect plug in yet, will wait till someone who knows more than me can help with that, hopefully later today I will have it sorted out. 😀

Then I can set about editing and sorting out the old post on here, maybe delete some if them sometime, bringing the blog up to date for all new readers, some of whom will not have seen other post on here…yet!

As it is, I am pretty pleased at the way wpress is working out so far, a few years ago I tried it several times and had lots of issues, thankfully some of them are no longer happening, and the few little things I didn’t know about then I have learnt about since so it seems less like a problem anyway.

Finally the avatars work now in comments, almost everyone has a universal avatar they use across many sites, like mine, you will see that avatar on twitter, facebook, here, other blog comments, etc.

If you have yet to set one up, then use Gravatar to set one up, this works in conjunction with your email address, which most people use across all the sites they use, simple really, add it once and you are set, the same pic is then used in blogger, wpress etc…

Any other issues I am having I will iron out, should you spot anything out of wack, please let me know.

Thanks for all the help, and thanks to you readers for sticking by me. 🙂

    Rob,

It might be worth keeping your old blog for the back links and duplicate your content or maybe a little different stuff in your blogger account, especially if you’ve got active commentors there?

I don’t understand the business model of Wpress. It does seem to be an excellent platform.

      Hey matthew,

Yeah, I had some help and advice, seems most of the redirects are set up ok, the blogger version is still there, for now at least… 😉

I like WPress, seems they give so much use to the bloggers, way more than blogger has really.

Do you plan on trying it? if you set up a subdomain and add it with fantastico in your cpanel, just to play with it, see what it’s like, (that’s what I have done several times) you may find it suits you more, who knows. 😉

      Worth a go…
